Nevermind, I realized that you mentioned before you bought the 3 series.

Wow I’m surprised they would take on that kind of liability. The hitch I installed was for a 3 series on my 2022 240i and I didn’t have to remove crash bar. Maybe bmw made a change to the under structure of the bumper, but seems unlikely.

If someone is interested, factory hitch model is ORIS AK41. At least for EU cars.

Just for an additional clarification on the crash bar question. I did not have to remove any crash bar or any structure when installing my hitch. I did use the 3 series version on mine as well.

Great news there. I had completely forgotten about it. Now to debate spending $1,000 getting it installed or keep using the roof rack. Still no idea if/when I’m getting an M2 allocation from my dealer. Roof rack will still work on the M2. This probably won’t due to some silly reason.

Their system only lists this for the 2023 M240i and not the 2022. I wonder, did BMW really change things that much 22->23 or would it in actually fit a 2022?

I finally did it 🙌

It took me way longer than expected. Around 4hrs, some delays due to not having the right tools and being careful taking the bumper off.

Half like and I'll post a video tutorial 😅

Thank you everyone

A little old post but researching. I also have the 1up hitch and was looking at doing a hitch. I had one on my F22 and it worked out great. My question is regarding clearance. My driveway is a hill and was wondering if you or @Brumie33 experience any scraping. On my F22 I had to cut the valance so that the bottom of the hitch was level with the bottom of the valance. Since it was black it was fairly well hidden. The stealth looks to set a few inches lower so was hoping to hear any feedback on that. Granted... taking my driveway on an angle is a given..

Thanks!

I haven't had any issues with slopes or scraping at all but also I live in the midwest where everything is flat.
I do occasionally drive to the post office that has an incline to get up to the office and I haven't noticed any issues.

I also have a 1up on my current car; any issues with the exhaust? I always have a fear of the exahust melting my wheels or something. Your install looks basically perfect for what I want.

I have had zero issues with this setup. The bike tray and exhaust are far apart enough that there are no concerns with damaging the bike nor the rack.

Will be purchasing a 230i very soon and must be able to install a hitch. I wrote Stealthhitch about the M240i hitch fitting the 230i. They responded it will fit but were unsure of the rear valance. Anyone have an idea if the M240's valance measures any different in terms of vertical length from a standard 230i's? I'll probably take some measurements at the dealer but was looking for some insight. Thanks!
