Aftermarket wheel/tire sizes or size up?
Hi All,
I have been going back and forth on this and was hoping to ask more experienced people this question. When buying aftermarket wheels, why not keep OEM wheel sizes (9.5 and 10.5) and tires (275 and 285) and just adjust the offset? Is there a real noticeable benefit with going 10" in the front and 11" in the rears (285 and 305)? One benefit in keeping OEM sizes is the cost of tires, right? If not tracking, though driving spirited, would it be OK to keep these sizes or size up? Thanks! |

I have no tracking plans. I also dont believe the 285 width is truly enough for this car. I kept the 9.5 up front but in a 20" with a 275/30/20. For traction, especially if any power increase is planned (or with the 8AT), I would say 305 or 315 is a must. Keeping stock power, I would still want 305s in the rear. With these sizes, 11" width is required. If you shop around, I dont think the price for a 285/30/20 is that much cheaper than a 305/30/20. Last edited by M_Power Rob; 04-28-2024 at 12:00 PM.. |

But doesn’t the car come stock with 275 width tires on the front 9.5” wheel? I would have thought increasong the width of the wheel you would also want to increase the width of the tire.
