Prepping our M2 for the Nürburgring

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com

Having turned our G87 M2 into a mini M4 CSL with the use of a selection of genuine M4 CSL parts and aftermarket upgrades it's time to see just how good the car is on a race circuit.

But not just any circuit, we're heading over to the Nürburgring to put our creation to the test where BMW M developed the M4 CSL themselves!

Before doing that, there was a few upgrades we wanted to do to add a little more personality and reliability on top. So we fit the Eventuri Full Carbon Fibre Intake, an Eisenmann Exhaust and a CSF Oil Cooler.

Really cool guys. I love your videos.

I was wondering if you guys knew if it's possible to add the G82 CSL rear seat delete to a G87. Trying to find the part numbers for everything has been nearly impossible and I'm still missing quite a lot, the pricing for some of the parts is completely crazy, and some of it seems to be discontinued.

Unfortunately for me, it's the only rear seat delete I'd be comfortable with this point, unless a reputable company makes a cage compatible clone.

Can't wait to see the next video on your M4.

We looked in to this last year, some parts aren’t on BMWs system so they cannot be ordered, and others are incredibly expensive.

Maybe someone will make replica eventually.

These are all superb top of the line proper mods. Each one of those components is at the top of their game. Wish you could remove those OPF filters for a video clip & then put them back on though.

We will make a video with them removed very soon! The OPF's really kill the sound.

Surprised you kept the stock wheels for track use since they're cast and very heavy.

Matt, quick question?

Does the carbon engine cover somehow interfere during the oil filter change? Do you need to take out the brace and the cover?

We weighed them against 826M wheels and the weights were very similar (I did look but couldn’t find the photos I took) This car was specced with track pack so came with the Cup 2 tyres on, BMW list 2 different part numbers for each size of wheel so perhaps there’s forged versions also?

We’ll be looking at wheels in the future.

Great video, engine bay looks stunning and the car is already coming together very well. Look forward to seeing this develop 👍

Guessing the two different part numbers would be for black and bi-colour?

If not, that is interesting

Just delved a little deeper and whilst the initial description of both is the same, you are correct the differentiation is 'Unicolour' vs 'machine-polished'

So good! Loved the videos and Meshas unbiased feedback (know he’s obsessed with the wagon). Seems like the right mix for a fun track capable car !

Seeing what the M2 did at the Ring was impressive. With slightly stiffer springs & some aero bits, I wonder how much faster around the track it could be.

I noticed that the oil temp in the M2 was higher than normal during the laps, around 120-125 celsius. When I tracked my car, the oil was steady around 95 degrees C and also when Misha did a lap with another G87, also the oil was around 100.
Do you think the aftermarket oil cooler has worse cooling than stock ? Or maybe it has to do with the tune?

I said about my experience on track, but I mostly compared to this:

This is also a G87 M2, also on the Ring and also driven by Misha. Watch the oil temp during the lap.
I don't want to say that Evolve did something wrong, but I just noticed this difference in oil temperature and I was wondering what causes it.

Our G81 M3 with a standard oil cooler was performing similarly, perhaps ambient temperature is playing a part also. It was roughly 25°c on the day Misha drove them.
