A few hundred bucks after every software update, right?

I believe it’s $100 to reflash the coding after you originally bought it and then it got wiped from a software update.

My honest opinion, and I had the F82 M4CS which I got for like 20k under sticker - the new CS just isn't worth the price tag. The Cx is already getting up there fully loaded but the 25 LCI isn't far off in power.

2018 M3CS was $100k base price, which is equal to about $123k today. 2023 M3CS base price is $119k. The only real difference is the discounts they were doing back then, price is basically the same after inflation.

With your logic, the M2 should be the best buy. $20K less and only 20 hp down to the base G80.

There is no 992 south of a Turbo worth buying over an M3 CS (or any G80). The only one that even makes sense to consider is the GTS, and that’s +$50k minimum for nearly identical performance.

I daily drive my cars so track stats dont mean much to me. But I would pick a lightly used 992 S over a new BMW CS all day long. Heck, I would also take a
991.2 GTS over a new BMW CS too.

But thats just me. Who cares what I like.

PS: I’d use the cs engine tune and front cs hubs with more camber on my comp x though.

There is something to be said of the prestige that the CS heritage brings.

But at the same time, I know there are lot of of coding options available to get the “cs feel” on a comp xDrive.

I’m torn also because my order should come in by June but the CS will go into production in July, meaning it prob won’t come in until September, leaving the summer behind.
That's a big part of the reason I cancelled the G80 M3CX with Ultimate Pack (all the main option packs in the UK) as the total price difference between that and the CS was "only" about £20k.

I went for the CS and don't regret it at all, it drives very differently (and better) than the G80/82 Competition xDrive and that's down to more than just coding, as there are a number of hardware changes too that make it drive and feel very different from the standard Comp.

You obviously don't get all the Ultimate Pack options for that £20k though!

Oh and you get a splitter with winglets as standard

You're not wrong but wage growth is lagging behind inflation so most people are essentially making the same amount of money while everything costs more.

Plus, NO ONE was buying the M3CS/M4CS until they started giving them away for peanuts so even then it wasn't worth the sticker price.

I mean, yeah, but we’re talking about $100-120k cars… wage growth? Really? The people buying these cars (us) aren’t really struggling in that area.

And, unfortunately, it’s a different time, I picked up a 2020 M8 competition at the end of the “deal” era $35k below MSRP. It is what it is. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I almost got a Signal Green M3CS but the local dealer had it marked up like 20k. I think it was a 130k build so sale price was 150 lmao.

I mean, if you don’t care about it just being RWD, the M2 with an unlocked DME tuned to CSL or higher engine tune and CSL coding on the trans and chassis side of things is basically a bargain when it’s all said and done. It is by far the cheapest option (new) to get the new S58 motor, if you’re shopping from that direction.

I had a dealer on FL offer me a Signal green CS at MSRP and I said no thanks. I’m fine with my Comp xD, all I do is go to the golf club and the grocery store. 😆

So funny how this thread became all about whether the CS is overpriced. CS owners think it’s a worth the money and non-CS owners think it’s not. 🤔 Who would’ve guessed?

It's ok to be pragmatic. Doesn't mean the CS sucks or that it isn't a cool car.

If you are already thinking of a CS I would get a CS and pass on the existing order

I’m going to take delivery of my order in 2 weeks. I usually swap out of cars each year so next spring I might trade it for a CS

However, this build is pretty special to me. I’ll be doing a full track setup on it - including camber plates and coilovers, tuning on MHD+, and full bolt ons. I have Yokohama Advan GTs on the way.

Also, the black interior of the CS just doesn’t do it for me, unfortunately.

Frankly, initially, I thought M2 is a genuine bargain in this car-pricing climate. After I drove it on track, however, I thought the 240M or 340M are better buys - strictly from a pricing/performance perspective. After the CS, I cannot imagine driving an M2

I am not a prospective buyer of it, but I do hope it will be a cracking car, a genuine track hot-rod with daily drivability. It should sell like hot-cakes if it is priced below six figures, discounting ADMs.
