Wireless Apple CarPlay issues(?)

I picked up my '24 in Zandvoort Blue on Thursday last week, and I am having as much of a blast as the break-in period will allow me to. I came from a 2020 330i, and it's crazy how familiar some of the interior bits are, whereas EVERYTHING about the drive is ridiculously different and better.

One of the issues I've run into in my first ~500 or so miles is the wireless Apple CarPlay (an issue I also had in my last car but never really cared to figure out).

It seems that the screen isn't responsive to clicking the Google Maps app, the hardware buttons don't skip songs on Spotify, and Google Maps doesn't always display when you flip over to map mode on the dash screen. In my 330i, I could always click the physical Home button near the iDrive controller and then go back into CarPlay, and it "fixed" the issue for that drive. That doesn't seem to be the case for my M2.

Any ideas? I'm on the latest version of iDrive, and my iPhone is completely up-to-date.

As a complete aside, can anyone explain or toss me a link to how to change the entire dash screen's configuration beyond just selecting what's in the middle of the screen? This is something I wasn't shown at the dealer.
