Turbo Lag (new problem) - M240i xDrive
Hi all
Anyone had issues with newly onset turbo lag in the car? I was out over the weekend on some nice roads and noticed about half way through that I wasn't getting the same rush of power sensation that I'd been getting on previous drives. It was still quick, but it felt like 1st & 2nd gear (particularly) were really laggy? I used to be able to put my foot down at any RPM in either 1st or 2nd and really feel being immediately pressed back, but now there's a long second long built of boost then it goes. This is particularly evident when you are accelerating from below 2Krpm, but even if I put my foot down in second at 4Krpm it just feels... flat. It used to surge to the redline, now it feels very neutered. I'm currently doing the latest OTA update, as I've been holding off a couple days, and then going to take it out later this afternoon. If it still feels the same, I think I'm going to have to phone the workshop to investigate... Car is 1800 miles, and was broken in for 1000. Can't work out if it's the clutch slipping, or if it's turbo-related or whatever. Just doesn't seem to be running right. No lights or warnings, though. Annoying as I'm not long past the break-in, and can finally give it some beans, and I've only had a couple of days of fun now it feels... slower than it did during break-in! Edit: I'm in Sport Plus mode, traction control is still on, and in Sport Gearbox using manual mode, so it's not a kick-down issue. Might try to rule out that TC is cutting power, but I can't see why it would since conditions just now are better than they have been before!

Could have been, maybe, yes!
Seems though that the update made it a totally different car. Back to normal again. Can tell, having done it back-to-back that there was a huge difference in power. Is it possible that BMW dull down the throttle map until you update? Or maybe that the update reset something like the throttle body adaptions, which I know was a thing in the F22 M240i? Either way, seems to be fixed. Running smooth, and gearbox shifts with the new update feel really crisp! Maybe just overthinking it - but happy to have my car back to normal, anyway!

I think it might be a bad tank of gas. maybe the engine is pulling timing to preserve itself, or elevation changes? who knows but if it's fixed then that's that. until next time lol

Reviving this topic.
I have the exact same symptoms right after last update. It is super frustrating. I always put premium gas so not sure if it is that. I think I have gone through 2 gas tanks already |

A few users have reported feeling slower after the recent update. I’ve seen it both in a separate sub-forum thread and the FB group. I have not experienced this but I have the XHP trans tune flashed so it overrides what BMW says.
As other have mentioned, bad tank of gas might be the culprit. Also if you’re used to driving in cooler weather, hot weather can affect performance |
