how to dim radio and instrument cluster more idrive 8

At night its much brighter then my other cars. Any way to dim is past what the knob allows. Hopefully it can be coded to dim another 50% or so.

There are 2 separate dimmers, the physical control dial for the instrument cluster and via the displays app for the information side.

I also find that control display and heads up are too bright even at the lowest settings in the evening.

Recently did a East-West-East coast trip and this was very much bothering me as well. In ProTool while adjusting my ambient lighting color library I noted a ton of other items relating to brightness values. I've been meaning to look into this to see if I can get it dimmer.

Also wish the global button backlighting was a smidge brighter and-or decoupled from the headlight dial...

I hate how bright the nav screen is and that the dimming feature of this particular area lacks.

I found how to cancel the second screen for night driving. From the home screen select music, then select manual tuning, once on this screen select up with the idrive knob or by touching the UP icon in the upper right of this screen. You will then see various display settings including brightness and turn off display. Select turn off screen. Voila, this makes night driving so much better with reduced ambient cabin lighting.
