Recommended Settings for Test Drive

Best settings for test drive.

I'm on the final stretch, car is at the dealer, I'm going tomorrow to test drive and hopefully purchase the car.

I know what everyone wants out of a car is subjective and wide ranging, but I am hoping fellow G87er's can suggest what settings these feel allow this car's athleticism to shine best.

6MT. I am not using this car for a daily driver. It will be weekend drives. I know this is NOT a Porsche Cayman, but a Cayman is my ideal sports car for handling and clutch/gearbox feel.

What settings on my test drive do you suggest so I can feel all the car has to offer? I really appreciate any advice.

Are you test driving a new or used one? I would think that if it is a new M2 you are going to be limited by the break in parameters. I would make sure you enjoy the MT and seating position. I don’t know that engine settings really matter as you can’t really get on it. Someone will correct me if I am wrong.

The non-engine related settings are rather limited with regards to steering and braking. Would suggest you try both.

New. I am not worried about the power aspect of it so I have no problem respecting the break-in RPM limits. I know there is plenty of power to be had. I am more asking about the best suspension and handling settings for a test drive.

When you get in the car, look for a button near the shifter that says "SETUP". Press that button and your center iDrive screen will give you all the options in one clear menu.

Just play with them and try to feel the difference. There are only 2-3 options in each category unless you turn TC off, which I wouldn't recommend doing on your first go out in the car.

Just understand the differences are more exponential with more input, which you'll be limited on during a test drive.

Enjoy your new car. I didn't even test drive mine haha. 12k miles later and it still makes my heart race every time I drive it, although it's pretty far from stock now.

very hard to judge new IMHO. i have posted this elsewhere but i was actually rather hesitant about the car until after the RIS. it felt too buttoned up, too fake sporty without the luxury to compensate. after break in- totally different story. can't get myself out of this thing, its really that good.

that said- for a test drive i would just move engine to sport or sport plus, chassis to sport plus, gear assist on, steering to sport. theres no point dialing down the TC when its in break in. keep the focus on how you like the form factor, seat comfort, rear seat space, looks and aesthetics, highway ride comfort, and how much character you think the car has at low speed.
