Well so far this car is amazing, and by far the favorite I’ve owned. I have 0 complaints from a driving perspective. Though a few questions - Is there a way for Sirius/XM to scroll through my favorites only using the steering wheel controls? It doesn’t make sense to me why I would have a favorites list that I can only access with the touch screen. Also some pics!

100% agreed. Test drove both 8spd and manual. The manual brought back many memories from the past put a smile on my face, but I didn’t like how it feels and how the clutch pedal catches at the top. Not the best manual but it was fun.

ZF8, really was design for the car and it made the car more lively in my opinion. It doesn’t engage like a DCT but it’s close enough. Overall like others had said it’s nice that you have options.

For ME, I went with the Zf8 transmission. There are way better manual cars out there and I feel like bmw manual on the G87 was a after thought.

Think this is the first M2 in white I've seen.

Looks good!

In the US, the only non-BMW new options that are price/mission competitive with the M2 are:
  1. CT4-V BW
  2. Mustang
  3. CTR/ITS
  4. Elantra N (say what you will, fun car)
  5. 718
  6. BRZ/86
  7. Nissan Z
  8. WRX (lol, whats left of it anyway)
  9. Supra/Z4
  10. GRC

realistically i would say the only real cross shopping options are the BW, Stang, ITS, and 718. New 911 has no stick (for now) so i guess a used 911 might also factor in if money is no object.

The stang being the best on paper competitor, has no usable back seats and is a Ford rental car (just rented a convertible stang a month ago, it’s incredibly poorly put together, it was falling apart, and I had to pull the back windows up by hand after raising them with the top up).

I liked sitting in the CT4, but it felt cheap with its black plastic pieces all scratched up. And realistically it’s an M3 competitor because it’s a sedan.

But I understand many here compare these cars for other reasons, so I’ll concede the probably best/most fun options are the FWD cars listed. I’d get those too if manual fun was the main goal.
yeah, ill absolutely concur- ive rented too many crappy stangs to really consider it a personal car short of a GT500, plus Ferd interior build quality... no thanks.

CT4-V BW, ive always had a bad feeling about GM after my parents had a series of hilarious lemons across the Yukon and Sierra Denali lines. I just dont trust (most) American-based manufacturers to get it right at this point in time.

On the next go round for my daily, assuming (fingers crossed) that my family will be large enough to justify a sedan, it will be either an M3 or an ITS, which might sound ridiculous on the face of it to BMW folks.

I had the 350Z and STi manuals. Way better engagement than the BMWs. Not saying BMW’s manual is bad. Just… they could’ve done better that’s all.

i dunno, i had a series of WRX/STis ranging from 2004s up to 2016s and i was never particularly fond of the agricultural "positive feedback" from them... the only car i've had that was head and shoulders definitively better was my 08 TL Type S 6 speed. my R is different but about equal. my Z32 does well for an antique

just the unfortunate reality of diminishing choices for folks like us. the STi is dearly departed and the Z isn't hitting the streets in numbers that will provide things like a robust aftermarket or long term parts availability.

all that to say while i agree the M2 manual isn't the best, it's better than OK and certainly better than nothing!
