this car..
..drives like a fat e36 m3 with shricks and a remus back box.
it sound like it too. nice surprise. dampening is very good. more controlled rebound stroke without being choppy like the f87s. bmw spent time retuning their stock suspension. motorsport rev limiter like the e36 to haha! looking forward to seeing how rotates on the track. mphas. csl diff flash csl steering flash active sound coded off. |

Glad you're liking it. Provide more feedback once you get it to the track.

Dynamically it feels planted and just wants to turn. Everything about the experience is just better. There is a marked improvement in the manual both in the clutch weighting and pickup and the shifts. No need for any short throw conversion or more notchiness to me, but then again I’m used to BMW manuals so it feels great. Very happy

some random non comprehensive track day feedback.
Ran at Thunderbolt yesterday. this car is a daily. I don't plan on going too crazy with track mods besides cheater tires and fluids later- maybe camber plates again if I have issues with pace. car feels very planted. easy to drive fast. steering is improved. sport plus suspension level is suprisingly good- there is a clear difference between modes now. I wasn't on the bump stops however the car was on street tires. you can feel the weight transfer mid corner. I noticed I was paying more attention to my stock (PS4S) tires. the tpms system is very good and easy to read with the PC monitor dash. shift lights are clear in HUD. there really is not a lot of drama with this chassis, very predictable. car is stock manual besides MPHAS, PFC pads and I removed the charcoal filters. I was not able to provoke rotation easily like on the f87s. I will prob fool around some more at the next event and jump down to '3' MTCS. Last edited by clutchdj; 06-16-2024 at 01:20 AM.. |

there is active sound on the G87 M2's? If so I want to remove!!! I didn't know this I removed from our X3m and it was so nice having the sound removed.
Edit just check my bimmer code's, mine is off, not sure if they are all off or the past owner did. Wondering now if they all have it turned on or its not an option. Last edited by brad65ford; 06-16-2024 at 07:44 AM.. |

That’s the one I want - wish there were more aftermarket options (like XHP) that focused on steering flashes, in addition to the transm flashes.

Best way I can explain it is the tires turn (left/right) in a more progressive manner versus linear when turning the steering wheel.
With the diff both wheels are almost always locked when launching and when hooning around it seems to allow a little more angle before the rear brakes tug the car back. I played with a lot the settings and most are very forgiving. generally it’s all fun and positive. It’s not an “ understeery”chassis, just really balanced with less torque so you really have to give it a good 75% of throttle in order to get it to rotate. In a nutshell I think the csl diff coding is similar to the m2cs diff coding but in a heavier car with less torque. And yes the active sound I had coded off the same day I picked up the car. The sound was all in the middle of the car. Couldnt hear the engine or the exhaust; seemed like an unnatural drone. |

I would say no it does not quite feel like a hydraulic rack because you feel every deflection with that type of rack (e36/997; etc) however when turning it feels more alive as if the wheels are pivoting around faster. I have been using alex@alpine for coding for a good few years now.
