JB4 for the G42 M240i

So I was looking into getting one of these to play around with in the next year and it looks like the major issue is the digital display is not programmed with the JB4 yet to swap maps as easy. Has anyone actually done any tunes with this car yet? I realize its super early on here but this is a Supra with all wheel drive and a back seat essentially. I do love my car but wouldn't mind a bit more wild torque or punch in your seat.

Thanks for any responses.

You don't need to use the display to switch maps. There is an app for your phone. Also can display 6 configurable gauges. Biggest drawback of the JB4 is its need for higher octane to get peak performance. If you don't have access to E85 its gonna be a rough go.

I put a JB+ on my car a few weeks back and am really enjoying it. thinking about trading it in for a jb4 soon, but I hesitate due to the fact the install is a bit more time consuming and complex compared to the JB+ and not sure it will give me much more power.

The JB4 definitely has a potential for significant power gains of the JB+. Install is only marginally more difficult imo. Looks like the biggest PitA is going to be running the OBD cable because the footwell is mostly enclosed.

I am in Vegas and we have 91 octane most stations with some E85 and some 100 octane but not easy to get. Is there no additional map for the 91 octane that gets you a reasonable bump in Torque and HP?

Map 1 says 91 octane. Give it a shot and see what happens!

Has anyone posted/seen videos of running the cables through the firewall?

There is a little rubber grommet that can be removed. i just cut a little X in it and ran the cable. I think I took some pics. Let me look.

Hendo, do you recall what boost increase is associated with map 1 of JB4, is it like 3 lbs or is it less?

I'm thinking of instead of JB4 to get JB+ as we have only 91 octane, here, yes i can access E85 to up it to 93 or so but i would only do that occasionally and can still up JB+ to up 4.5 boost at max. I would just generally run JB+ at a lower setting of about 2-3 lbs boost for my 91 octane, plus some folks say the JB+ at the higher settings seems a bit harsh and not as smooth as the JB4 at higher settings??

Yes, map 1 is 3 lbs. I would for sure go with the JB4, but to each their own. JB4 is also an extra set of 6 customizable gauges, used for data logging, and always leaves room for future power increases if desired.

The JB4 is a super simple install:

Can you assign maps by drive mode? My Tundra has this option but can find it with my M240XI.
