Road Trip mpg - WOW!

I didn't buy a m240 to take it on a road trip, but when an opportunity to go up to a buddy's place in Northern Wisconsin came up, I thought that this would be a great way to burn through the break in miles. There were just 200 miles on the counter when we left, and I had been taking it easy since delivery. 5 1/2 hours North, and then a bunch of miles the next two days in the U.P. quickly got me closer to the 1200 I was looking for. The whole trip I never saw anything lower than 34 mpg on the dash. Name: dash mpg.jpg

Size: 231.2 KB I took this picture right before filling up before crossing the border back into Illinois. I drove the whole trip with Eco Pro because there was never any opportunity to drive aggressively. This return leg of the drive was one hour of rural 2 lane, then 3 hours of interstate, then another hour of rural two lane. There was always traffic in front of me on the two lanes, and I moved with traffic on the interstate, averaging about 78mph. I actually liked the way the car drove using the Eco mode because during the first 200 miles around home it was always in Comfort, and it felt a bit strange to me, especially when slowing for a stop light or sign. Almost like it was an EV using regen, I couldn't feel very much coasting. None of the cars I've driven in the last 50 years have felt that way, and Eco felt more "normal" to me. Now that it's got the miles on it, and I've jumped on it a few times using the other two modes, I can't believe how much power it has. I got the xDrive because of what everyone here talked about, and because I was never happy with the way my '87 Grand National could break the tires loose at almost any speed. That was a very scary car to drive like an idiot because you could wrap it around a tree in a heartbeat. All wheel drive and technology has made modern performance cars so much more controllable than they used to be.
Sorry about the sideways picture.

My best so far, find its often in the 40s for motorway cursing if you use eco slow mode.

What is the real difference between confort and eco mode at the same driving style? I see in eco pro it transforms into a diesel v

The difference in fuel consumption? Eco is obviously better by like 5-10 mpg. It runs leaner and also has a coasting mode where it engages neutral when you lift off the throttle and there is nothing in front of the car to trigger automatic braking

It's not 'obvious' until someone tried it on the same car/same driver and maybe same road(going to work for example).

I really struggle to get above 34 UK MPG tbh but I mainly use comfort

Also is coating available in comfort. It is on the 230i and according to the description on the website it should be available on m240i as well over I only experience it in eco pro

I’ve never seen it in Comfort either. On the Mybmw app only journeys where I’ve used eco slow have any percentage of coasting recorded.

Wasn’t obvious for me driving to work. Eco and comfort both produced about the same MPG.
Really would have noticed a 5-10MPG boost.
