My dealer just received a loaded '24 Brooklyn Gray/Black M240xi that a customer backed out of. It would come at a solid discount. PM me if interested.

My M240i has been "ready for transport" for about a month now. How long does this step usually take?

Also, what interest rates have BMW been offering on new cars? I've got a trade in but I'll probably finance the balance and I'm wondering if it's worth going to credit unions instead.

Thanks for any input.

It is ALWAYS worth getting some rates from outside the dealership before you go in to sign the papers. See what else is out there. Multiple "hard" inquiries on your credit within 30 days from lenders only count as one hard pull, so don't let anyone tell you that you're going to ruin your credit by applying at different places. Check your local credit unions, check bank rate.com, check any banks where you have an existing relationship. In the end, if you have good credit, BMW probably has better rates than you'll find outside, but you need to have a negotiating leg to stand on. I got 5.99% from BMW back in October for a 60 month loan. I had found 6.24% at a local credit union. The dealer initially told me the best BMW could do was 6.99% but they magically got it down to 5.99% once I told them I already had 6.24% lined up. ALWAYS have a competitive offer, as dealerships make money on marking up your interest rate over what's actually the best rate available for you.

Looking to purchase m240 xdrive, built one to be destination & handing it came out to $62,470. I pretty much picked all options minus the active cruise control.

I'm located in NJ, and was wondering is there any wiggle room on the m240i.

In the event it helps anyone, I'll mention that I just put in my order for a pretty decently optioned car and took an offer for $1k under msrp on an order.

Placed a order and got $2700 off msrp, got leather and ztk package and most add ons. Shopped around locally and they were all playing games.

Just found 24 for 46,500 with 2k on the dash from a reputable place. Drove it, loved it, sold my bike, and I’ll have it in a few weeks.

Edmunds forums has them, usually best to ask there for your location and desired spec.

I spent the better part of last week pinging dealers nationwide for their best out the door pricing on new 2024's (that were still on their lots) and new, in-stock 2025's.. had a bunch of dealers come in at 8-9% off MSRP on 2024's, and then got a few dealers to match that discount on 2025's that had the colors and options I was looking for. Pick mine up this week!
Feel free to PM for details..

I just drafted up an e-mail asking for their best out-the-door price, pinged it out to a bunch of dealers (and got a few written replies / quotes back with the discount I was looking for), and then followed up with the handful of dealers that had the colors / specs I was looking for to see if they could match. Most wanted something in writing to substantiate the quote / pricing I was looking for (since they had already given their "best price" and needed to go to their manager for additional discounts), but almost all were able to get to the price I wanted / had been quoted by another dealer since they didn't want to lose on price.

Here's the e-mails I used:

1) Initial quote request (sent after they replied to my Autotrader.com or Cars.com "is your vehicle still available" inquiry):

Hi XX (sales rep name),

Thanks for the reply, and glad to hear the vehicle is still available!

For background, I live in the Chicago suburbs (zip code = XX.. YY County, which has ZZ% tax) and am looking to purchase a new, well-equipped 2024 or 2025 BMW M240i with xDrive. I am looking to take delivery in the next couple months, but am prepared to move sooner if the deal warrants it. I have already arranged my own financing but would be open to any competitive financing options you offer.

When you get a chance, can you please provide me with your best detailed out-the-door price breakdown for the 2025 M240i that I inquired about – including dealer discounted selling price, less any manufacturer rebates, plus dealer and government fees. I am contacting several dealers that have inventory with the colors and packages / options I prefer. I am a serious and committed buyer, ready to move forward with my purchase, so would appreciate it if you could supply me with the details that I have requested.

Thanks in advance. I look forward to hearing back from you.

2) Follow-up e-mail to push on pricing

Thanks for that XX (sales rep name)! On pricing, I've gotten a number of quotes back on remaining 2024's and new, in-stock 2025's and am seeing pricing 7-10% below MSRP (before any incentives or discounts associated with using BMW financing).

Are you able to be competitive with that?

Also shopping for a M240i xDrive in the Chicagoland area, really glad to see your post!

Would you be able to comment on what you think would be a competitive price for the car in this area?

Not sure if things have changed now that we're in Jan (and past any end-of-month / year sales pushes in Dec), but I had a number of dealers willing to go to 8-9% below MSRP for new 2025's on their lots, and that was before the $1,500 military incentive that I qualified for. Here in Chicago, Bill Jacobs and Karl Knauz BMW were both willing to match the offers I got from out of state dealers. Feel free to shoot me a PM and I can pass along the names of the sales reps that I was working with if that would be helpful. Good luck!

Have an offer on an M240i xDrive. How much harder should I push?

MSRP: $57,755
Discount: -$2,500
Doc fee: $999
Prep fee: $700
Total: $56,954.

They said invoice is $54,455.

I thought we were close but then they mention the prep fee out of nowhere. Planning to go in person Tuesday or Wednesday to finish negotiations.

Car is Vegas red metallic with black interior.

OPTION PACKAGES
PREMIUM PACKAGE Adaptive Full LED Lights, Universal Garage-Door Opener, Live Cockpit Pro w/Head-Up Display, Heated Steering Wheel, Automatic High Beams, ACTIVE CRUISE CONTROL, LUMBAR SUPPORT, REMOTE ENGINE START, SHADOWLINE PACKAGE M Sport Brakes w/Red Calipers, M Sport Package Pro, sprint function and rear spoiler in black, M Shadowline Lights.

Gave my feedback on the other thread. Price can go further probably, but it's not a bad starting point.

Tell them not to prep the car if they are gonna charge you, especially if you are taking it to a detailer after delivery.

1700 for Doc and prep is ridiculous. They are discounting the majority of their profit so I understand why they’re trying to make up for it on the back end, you’re basically getting $800 off of retail. I know the dealers in Denver have never offered more than about $1000 off Over the last 2+ years with this car so you don’t have a terrible deal but it’s worth trying to get them to knock some of that extra $1700 in pure profit off the top.

Thank you, this is really helpful. Before they sprung the extra $700 on me I was pushing for $55k even and that seemed like it would be a decent discount, even with a $1,000 doc fee. But making less sense now.

OK turns out the dealer was mixed up and there isn’t a $700 prep fee. Only taxable fee is $999 doc fee. So I’ll push back on that and/or seek additional discount.

Also need to negotiate a trade…

You qualify for any rebates? If your grandparent served that $1500 off on the top, you have to register for ID.me for that. Also if a BMW CCA member is a $500 check (takes a few months to get but it's free $)

When negotiating on a car when you have a trade in, remember "the only difference that makes a difference is the difference"
