This is what I'm talking about. Not sure why people are saying the M240i is the faster car except for from a launch and possibly up to 40/50. I bet the M240i feels faster though as the M2 hides that feeling more.

I don't know.. I have both (both MY23 and both RWD) and my M2 will smooooooke the M240 in every way shape or form. In all fairness, I am also tuned over 700whp and the transmission is also tuned (I haven't thrown $70k into it...$40k or so, maybe ). When my M2 was still stock power but 20" forged Vossens in front and rear (car was picked up from the dealer in an enclosed trailer and Vossens went right on so never had the opportunity to compare with the M2 bone stock), the M2 would still smoke it 100%. |

I feel I can wade in hear as I owned the 2023 M240i xDrive for 14 months and now own a 2024 M2.
The M240i xDrive is hands down better daily, able to put power down in all weather conditions and better fuel economy. HOWEVER!!! When it comes to a drivers car, the M2 RULES. The G87 M2 is something special, some say a budget M4… I say a thinking man’s M4. The M240i is predictable but the M2 is wild and fun. The M2 might not have xDrive but the mechanical grip is fantastic. ZERO regrets! |

I didn't have an M240 but I did have a Supra, so same engine as 240. The B58 starts going faster as boost comes on much earlier given the single turbo. The handling of the supra was nothing to sneeze at (I had done wheels/tires (PS4S over the PSS it came with stock and slightly wider) along with sway bars and pads (these were the handling mods I did) and it was a blast on track. I haven't tracked the M2 yet but I have no doubts that it should be nearly as quick as the Supra on track, even without the mods (though I now have slightly wider wheels/tires).
Another thing I will say is the B58 with the ZF8 had amazing MPG for what it is. The S58 with 6spd I'm getting like low 20s average (mix of city/highway) where as the b58 I was in the upper 20s for the same travel ratio. It probably doesn't matter to most with these types of cars but just worth noting. I don't think you can go wrong with a b58 based car (m240/supra/z4, not advising you can compare a 540) but I do love the M2, especially since I got the 6spd at MSRP and not some shit markup that toyota was trying to charge.

Here is a 7-second quarter mile M240i xDrive on a stock block, lol.

Don't let their claim that its a "stock block" fool you...that is a 3.2 litre stroker motor, aftermarket trans and axels and built to the extreme. It is well known what was done to that car. |

The physical block itself might be stock, but nothing inside of it is other than maybe the crank is stock. The entire drivetrain has been upgraded. Axels, transfer case, diffs, trans, rods, pistons, cams, valve springs and retainers, they did everything to that car. Some of it is still in development and not even yet available to the commercial market. Definitely impressive, but to say stock block is kind of misleading. Now my M2 on the other hand, stock engine, trans, and turbos. Just a little bolt on G87 with some ethanol. |
