Front bumper air inlet carbon fiber overlay
Does anyone else make carbon fiber overlays for the front bumper inlets other than IND at a good price point? $800 for overlays seems crazy.

Well, if they can manufacture high-quality CF rear spoilers all day for ~$300, why can’t they do a high-quality $400 set of inlets? Or $400 CF front-lips?
I had a nice $350 CF front-lip on my 135i - what makes the G87 command $1,200+ front-lips?

Anything with the words “carbon fiber” with not come cheap…unless it is not real carbon fiber. |

Exactly what I was thinking. I got my carbon fiber grill from Kies for like $450, that seems more reasonable for the inlets to me.

Carbon fiber parts aren't that expensive to make anymore, but people think it is. My guess is these parts offer the largest profit margin, that's why they're the only ones available right now. I don't want cf exterior accessories, but nobody offers anything in gloss black or painted/unpainted. I finally broke down and purchased a cf rear spoiler & dropped it off at the painters to be painted body-color. Would've been much easier, and cheaper, to have purchased a non-cf, unpainted spoiler. But it is what it is. |

Besides spoilers being made in mass quantities (the spoiler for the G87 will fit all G generation 2 series (230, 240 & M2) as already stated, the shape of the inlets are a little more intricate and specific to the G87) and that could add to the cost. |

Also, if you're asking why it costs more than a spoiler is because the spoiler has 1. More applications (all G bodied 2 series cars), while the inlets are G87 specific. 2. Quantity, they simply make a ton more of the spoilers because of reason 1. So it's vastly cheaper to make the spoiler compared to the inlets. 3. Complexity, the molding for the spoiler is really simple, the inlet parts are different sizes that house sensors and have a uniform weave. It simply is harder to make and to make right. I would wait for a sale if you're looking at a specific set. Hell, save the money and buy all of the carbon bits when they do go on sale, then you basically get a new car.
