Wait for My25 LCI?

have been trolling around the forums looking to get back into a BMW or specifically a M.

Usually always have the family hauler and a fun weekend sports car. my last BMW M8 lease expired in 12/2022 and decided to wait as rates and pricing just didn’t make sense.

been a couple years and the urge is back. My go to dealer does not have any mark ups (refuse to pay) and they have MY24 which doesn’t really fit any of the specs i really wanted 6MT, carbon buckets but it’s a weekend car and i don’t take my toys that seriously.

so i am considering but after research the 25 seems pretty close on hitting the dealerships. i do like the new steering wheel and the extra HP is a nice add. i will be leasing so in the end i guess it doesn’t really matter

probably going to have to pay sticker ( never done this on a BMW) but thinking what’s the rush. If i wait say for 25 there is a good chance money factors might be lower by then and prob end up paying sticker anyways

to throw a curve ball into the mix there is a good chance i can get a deal n a my25 m4. almost 17k more in sticker but dealer said they would work a deal on that. i know its not the same car but either will fill the void.


would you wait for the 25 being in my position?

get what your really want for your weekend toy. don't compromise.

my25 or my24 doesn't matter if you get 6sp, no power bump on manual transmission.
maybe you can shop around, I heard some dealer do $500 off msrp for in stock m2.

Think you might be wrong regarding power bump. My understanding is that the MT only gets the HP bump but auto also gets some more torque?

The manual does get the HP bump, it just doesn’t get the torque bump the automatic is getting.

There is also a reason one can get a G82 M4 under MSRP...*hint...its the worst selling in the M line of cars*

You can buy similar "flat bottom" steering wheels for cheaper than the markup from MY24 to MY25. The 'MY25 base price increases something like $2,500 or so and I've seen the flat bottom steering wheels for far less than that. You have to do the install and transfer parts over (there is an active classifieds post right now for pretty much exactly this for $500 I think).

This of course, assumes that price matters to you THAT much then this is the smarter financial move. However, maybe price doesn't matter that much and its just easier to buy the MY25 for the flat bottom wheel (and more HP). If you refuse to pay MSRP (or over), then I'm assuming price matters to you which is why I thought it was worth pointing out that option.

thanks for the insight, i won’t pay markup for the pure morals behind it. i have heard the story many times, no discount on M cars blah blah blah. But every M i have gotten significant discounts.

i’m in and out of cars and know the game. if i’m lucky and a car still sitting on the lot month end and even better quarter end deals can be had.

knowing the 25 is prob hitting dealerships end of q3 puts me in a much better position to work a deal on a 24. Question is the 24 still going to be on the lot

but a couple poster had a good point on the price increase. Dealer cost or markup usually 6% unless there is trunk money. If the inventory is too high come the 25 grounding you might see some extra BMW support. If i could somehow get the full 6% with a low overall sticker most of that discount is eaten up with the 25 price increase

but let’s be clear, i’m talking to a couple dealers and most are willing to something off sticker.

we have possible rates cuts coming in Sept and the 25 coming out. it’s around the corner and it would be pretty dumb to lock yourself into higher financing if Feds do cut rates

One thing to also consider is that resale value for the 2025 should be higher than the 24's due to the refresh, color options, and power bump. So what if you pay a little more for the 2025 if it is worth more? This is my opinion initially as the 2025's come out. No idea what will happen long term and how values across different model years will look. Ok, 2024 owners go ahead and shred me but remember I also have a 2024 M2.

good point and from a lease stand point the residual values might be higher leading to a better lease

Residuals will never be better on the new model year, if anything they will inflate leftovers to move them.

I feel like if a buyer had the option to buy a used 2024 or 2025 at some point in the future, they would be willing to spend more on the 2025 due to the new features, colors and power bump. That's where my mind went.

lol. I’m 95% 25 M2 at this point. I tried to talk my wife into an Arteon and a garage queen Z4 for the same sub 90k she wasn’t hearing it.
