I was told by CA that BMW has a real marketing problem with M2. Virtually every M2 that gets to the US has already been sold, so there really are no cars on the dealer lots for prospective buyers to look at or drive. The only exceptions are where the original buyer backed out of the deal or died. You might see a new M2 on a dealer lot for a couple of days, only while the original buyer is waiting to pick it up. The same sort of problem affects all cars that are in high demand. BMW 60 day program is a partial attempt to fix the situation.. when I was looking for an M2 there was actually only one single vehicle available to drive in all of the mid Atlantic states, and I only got into that vehicle because I pretended I really wanted to spend 15 ADM to buy a white automatic. Well, the actual red beast that i ordered is still in transit somewhere. I can only imagine what it is actually going to look like., but that is actually a lot of fun for me.

It literally doesn't seem like a marketing problem to me if the cars are sold before making it to the dealership. They'd be wise to save that money and use it later when demand subsides. I was able to drive a new 2024 with a manual transmission that my dealer received. I think the reason that it didn't sell immediately is that it had some sort of $10k performance exhaust system. I can't imagine that being worth the money. That said, it was gone a week later.

If it had the MPerformance exhaust system (which in no way worth even half its cost), it was most likely a P1 car that wasn't purchased by its original customer. |
