Drive from LA to Lake Tahoe
Hello, I am driving from LA to Lake Tahoe via US Route 395. Any insights? great photo locations?
I hope this road is well kept. |

I only did this drive growing up to visit the cousins and we took the 5. Sorry.

No worries at all. I have taken the 5 from Northern California but want to experience this “less traveled way” behind the Sierra and multiple places along the way… Still thanks for the reply.

All I can offer is be cool and while you might be tempted watch your speed. Not only for the not that uncommon speed trap but for wildlife. Deer in particular. |

I have done Reno to Tahoe and back multiple times and the twist turns, declines and inclines are insane. Thinking in M2 might be wild

Hey everyone. Made it back and posted a few pictures in the G87 Random Picture of the Day thread.
The route has some really incedible views and so much open road that keeping it below the 3 digits was a challenge… a nice one to have… Found one cop or two along the way but they were busy with the mustang… ouch!… and those passing lanes were much fun too! So amazed by the power of this car. If you have not done it yet, the 395 along with the 89 are spectacular drives for this car! I would do it all over again. Below is my favorite picture from the entire trip along CA 89. Thanks everyone pitching into this thread. |

Glad you managed the trip. I'm sure it lived up to its billing.
I can just add it is not the cops you see that you have be concerned with it is the ones you *don't* see... My use of a V1 -- since 2000 -- on long road trips (of which I took a bunch) -- made me aware of how when you least expect it a cop can be painting your vehicle with radar or laser. Or in a couple of cases a spotter plane was active and the radar signals were from ground support units up ahead. At any rate you made it unscathed. Just that one pic makes me wish I had driven that route when I was in CA. |

Yeap, so right. My passenger prisoner saw a few more cops along the route that I never got to see. |
