Could have been a pebble stuck between the wheel and caliper, if you have the ZTK package it's a slim area.

No issues on my ‘23. Surprisingly solid car for a 2-series or those with any concerns about a Mexico made product.

Just got back from Spain. Took the car out a couple of times and haven’t noticed the noise. It may have very well been a pebble. I haven’t taken it in for service at this point.

So bumping this. This noise here again. Not as loud and only happens if I turn the wheel right very quickly. Snap the wheel right and there’s a screech. Slowing turn wheel nothing. Before it made the noise even when I turned the wheel slowly. No vibration in steering wheel. No pulling. No other noise. Only on a quick snap of the wheel to the right.

I was able to record the sound so that should be helpful for the dealer.

Since I went in again, haven’t had any more issues with the car 🤞 my issue wasn’t a screech and wasn’t associated with the wheel turning. So it seems like you may be having another issue.

Grinding, or more of a clicking/ticking sound?

A squealing sound. Not grinding.

Took it to dealer today. Was raining. We drove in the parking garage and of course no noise. Tech speculating that the tires sliding a little bit from rain so not enough tension when we snap the wheel right. He put the car on the lift and said everything looked fine. So annoying. I have to go back on a dry day. I guess it’s good nothing overt showing as a problem from when on the lift.

Took back to dealer. Rode with tech on a dry day. I live down the street and took him to my parking garage where it is easy to hear. Snap the wheel hard to right and you hear squeal/screech. Sounds metallic. The tech said it’s the tire squealling. But, this never happens if I snap the wheel left. It’s still doing it. I can repeat the sound now when I am driving on the road. Has to be a hard snap and only when car moving. Cannot repeat it when parked. The tech put the car on the lift and took a video of both sides. He said he didn’t see anything unusual. Head scratcher.

Keep trying. Have the shop foreman go with you. If you feel something isn’t right… then something isn’t right. You paid big bucks for this car and you deserve it to be perfect.

Hello,
were you able to solve this problem? I just received my m240,2024 and I hear the same sound behind on the right side, it is not very loud but it is noticeable at low speed if the street is not very good

Has anyone else had this issue? The car only has 5,000 miles on it and was purchased Jan 16th. Kinda nervous this will be a trend with this car…but hoping this is just a one off issue.
Hello,

when driving slowly on a not very good street, does your car make a little sound in the rear as if something was not securely fastened inside?

i just received my M240, 2024, it only has 50 km and I can hear it that sound.

Yes, it’s common. But, I mostly only hear it if the dampening is set to sport.

.
I have a noise coming from same driver side front suspension area and it sounds like a muffled thud/thump. Not very loud. Noticeable under 25mph, can feel through steering wheel, happens on very small imperfections in the road. I think it goes away after everything is warmed up.

I have a service setup next month, should I mention anything specific about a fix? Did they use a "chassis ear" in the area?
I don't want them to come back and tell me "it's normal and expected"

My build date is Oct '22.

Hey! So they wound up replacing my tie rods and a few other components. There should be a bulletin out because of my car. So they should see it and have it idea of what to do. Everything has been good since then.

2024 M240i xdrive stabilizer bar replacement

My new 2024 M240i with 1500 miles is in right now after I complained of a muffled rattling/ thumping noise in the front right of the car driving at slow speeds <30 mph. They finally heard it themselves and diagnosed stabilizer bar and are replacing it. Hope that fixes the problem.

They replaced my tie rods and the front thud/knock sound went away temporarily. Now it's gradually starting to come back again 2 weeks later.
Mine is definitely front driver side. Even driving over painted lines on the roadway I can hear the thud/knock at low speeds
