Now that's funny and true! But, now I am embracing much 90's music. Foo Fighters. Alice In Chains. Nirvana. REM. RHCP. Pearl Jam. Nine Inch Nails. The Cult. Jane's Addiction. The Verve. BRMC.

Some really great R&R that I missed dwelling on my high school and college tunes. Never too late.

I haven't really seen a rock album hit the market quite as hard since Nirvana's Nevermind. That drop was shocking in an era of glam rock and self aggrandizing hip hop. The rock era it ushered in made the decade in my mind. I keep Nevermind in my rotation along with the Unplugged record.

By the way, my pops said back in the day that 90s rock was very derivative of the 70s rock sound although he did enjoy it (esp Pearl Jam, Soundgarden).

In the 2000's the LOFI garage sound of the Strokes, The Rakes, Interpol and the White Stripes was somewhat derivative as well but I still love it. Certainly no modern rock music impresses me much but digging down into the landfill of sub genre's there's still some good stuff in there even if it's not especially original anymore.

Check these out, my two Nirvana favorites. Nirvana were never so good as live. And gotta make a vote for the Pixies and Jesus & Mary Chain.

Born in '84, really got into music in '94 which was a huge year for punk rock and other "alternative."

Nirvana
Offspring
Bad Religion
Good Riddance
Pennywise
Strung Out
NOFX
Rage against the Machine
Smashing Pumpkins

Basically, a KROQ kid. Downloading music from limewire/napster if you recall.

I'm prepared to say Bleach was the true breakthrough. It still holds up remarkably well and as you said, mostly glam rock at the time so Bleach was incredible.

I recall. What I really liked about Napster was the ability to see everything in an uploaders shared folder. If they had unique content that you liked, you could explore. Like an early manual algorithm.

Yes, I remember that! It was cool to find people with the same taste, and then find other stuff or new stuff.

I'm going to see Green Day two times in the same week at the end of the month. Charlotte (smashing pumpkins not playing). Then Nashville for smashing pumpkins opening for Green Day

Amazing! I wasn’t aware of them for whatever reason until the early 2000’s just in time to catch them live at Coachella - one of the top 3 most unforgettable sets from the 5 coachellas I attended - really special ❤️.
