Best Non-Front Mounted Intake?
What intake are you guys using that aren't front mounted? I live in AZ so front mounted would be a nightmare to keep clean with all the dust and sand here. I see some that are in the stock location with airboxes around the intake while others just have a heat shield or nothing. Any one that's better than the others?
Also, do you guys notice any difference in power with an intake vs stock airbox with a stock tune? How about with a stage 1 tune? I'm still curious on how well the airbox flows if I'm not going stage 2+ with the car and if an aftermarket intake would even be worth it.

Eventuri...if you are tuned or plan on tuning, its the only real choice. If you aren't tuning, or if you are and don't want to drop the bucks on the Eventuri, remove all oem filters and just drop in BMC filters. Won't give you the noises but next best option for performance. Last edited by M_Power Rob; 08-02-2024 at 11:29 PM.. |

But more curious than anything, has there been any consensus on when the stock box airflow is insufficient for a certain power level, or is the stock box good for you to stage 2 or 2+ on this car?

Modern cars have a great cold air intake from factory. You won’t need to swap it out unless you’re really trying to squeeze out another 5-10hp or if you have some massive spinny snail that requires a lot more air intake than what the stock system can do. If anything just swap out the filters with higher quality ones. That’s one thing they usually cheap out on. |

You can read about it here (there are different tabs and videos). https://www.eventuri.net/products/bm...82-m3-m4/#tab1 I have seen the difference on a dyno adding more than 20hp on a stage 2 tune. It was definitely noticeable under acceleration on the street (I am running a custom Stage 2 tune on e40 blend with full mods: catback, downpipes, upgraded heat exchanger, oil cooler, trans cooler, colder plugs and the Eventuri). |

Exactly. These guys are smoking some really wacky weed to charge $3k for an air intake that maybe nets you a gain of 5 hp. Air intakes are not significant power adders on any modern vehicle. As mentioned modern performance cars are designed/tunes to be very efficient. I've been modding cars for a long time, and I've never seen an air intake gain more than 10 hp.
Now if it's combined with many other modifications, tunes, etc., it will contribute to the total hp gain. Imo, anything over $500-600 on an air intake is a waste (and some could argue that's too much) because you're just adding it for appearance and sound. That said, I installed the MAD intakes. There is a definite increase in whoosh sounds & throttle response does seem a little zippier/crisp according to my SOTP meter. |

Another uninformed post...go buy some Ali junk and enjoy. Edit: If you are going for looks and sounds, yes, the Eventuri is a waste of money (I do some only care about sounds and not increase performanceand that is their perogative but not my choice). If you are looking to increase performance on a tuned motor, the Eventuri is the only intake on the market to increase the flow to maximize the tuning. Going with an aftermarket intake for performance that does not increase the flow above oem with an aftermarket dropin filter is a waste of money. Good to know, thanks. Hopefully they'll come out with a good non-oil filter 🤞🏻

I have tried MAD, MST & BMS on my car. All are excellent and get the job done. The MAD is the loudest + comes with a heat shield. if i had to pick one, that's what i would go with

Is there much difference sound or power wise between the MAD carbon airbox vs the open filters with heat shield versions?
