Ah that’s right, I remember seeing that somewhere. Thanks for the clarification.

The wind buffeting is horrible.

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I have to say I think the look of the M2 is blown wayyy out of proportion. Yes, the front fascia design is not great (the weird boxed vents at the bottom), but tbh, that’s really the only part of the vehicle I consider “ugly”.

Idk how ppl look at the rear end of the car and think it’s ugly. It’s way better than the F87 rear end, and imo, this looks better than an Rs3 (which a lot of ppl tend to like looks wise) and the Nissan Z. The Rs3 straight up looks like a regular Volkswagen; completely boring. And the Nissan Z front end imo isn’t much better than the M2 with that weird grill.

another thing to consider with these cars is value. G87 m2s are simply not holding as well as 6spd supras or even F87 comps.

2020 M2 comp (61k msrp) with 20k miles just sold today on BaT for 54k +fees

2024 M2 (67k msrp) with 1600 miles sold for 58k

there's no arguing with the math (~12% vs ~14% depreciation) but i will say that this G87 isn't optioned particularly well for enthusiasts. probably could have done better at the dealer on trade in.

similar one that also sold for 58
https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2023-bmw-m2-7/

its not just the the %, but the % drop over time and mileage. not sure where the g87 will after 4-5 years and 20k miles, but i doubt its anywhere above 50.

time will tell, but under 50% seems like a massive stretch. it's an S58 equipped vehicle. there's a logical floor for these in the 40s for 6 speed cars for quite a while. add some for carbon roof, add more for carbon buckets. further for LCI, even more for special color (deliberately not saying individual, because its not). spec will matter a lot for G87 because they are going to end up selling way more than the F87, and there are far more options.

first model year, auto, sunroof cars will fare the worst though, thats no doubt.
