Had my car for about 6 months and Siri has never worked with CarPlay. I’ve reset iDrive multiple times, repaired my phone, etc. still nothing. Anything involving Siri just crashes CarPlay. Can’t long press, can’t read or reply to text messages, it’s really annoying.

iDrive is up to date, iOS is up to date as well. Originally had an iPhone 12 when I got the car, now have a 15 and no change. Anybody else still having this issue?

No issues with Siri with my old iPhone, but with iOS 17.5.1 and up-to-date iDrive. I use Siri on most short journeys and dozens of times on a long journey, mainly for voice-to-text SMS and dictating navigation directions.

Well that’s great. So strange how mine refuses to work. I’ve exhausted all online fixes and reboots. I guess I’ll have to take it to my dealership and have a genius figure it out

Mine will do this every once in a while, no rhyme or reason that I can figure out. Typically a re-boot of idrive fixes it, iphone 15 pro.

Same here - I try to avoid Siri for this exact reason. I've found that unpairing/re-pairing CarPlay works as well.

Took it to the dealership and solved it. Had Siri enabled within iDrive as the default assistant, so I guess it was canceling CarPlay out attempting to use Siri. Wouldn’t have figured that one out on my own.

I have the same problem. CarPlay works perfectly in my other vehicles. But as soon as Siri comes on in the M2, CarPlay completely reboots/resets. I can’t send a text or issue commands.

I did not realize there were two places for Siri. You can leave Siri for long press but turn the other Siri off. That fixed my issue immediately. Thank you so much! I love this forum.

Yea I wouldn’t have guessed to disable that. The Genius at my dealership was confused at first, but once he saw it crash he knew exactly what it was. Glad you were able fix yours too!
