This is my TAG - a Targa Florio model (it is a limited model produced in 1957 numbered pieces - Fangio's signature and sapphire crystal are the differences compared to the regular one)
Calibre 17 movement inside -nothing fancy- is based on the proven and reliable ETA 2824-2 automatic movement. Several watches use the same - Tags, Breitlings, Bell & Ross, Chopard Mille Miglia etc. I bought it second hand (it's a 2003 model). At the beginning I really liked to wear it on a daily basis. However my lifestyle is different, more outdoors Vs corporate, so it's sitting in the cupboard next to an Apple Watch and a Fitbit type inexpensive junk I use whenever I walk the dogs in the country. My wishlist is quite ambitious - I am a huge fan of Ulysse Nardin & Zenith for the quality of their watches and intricate designs. I like Bulgari & Cartier for the fashion. I do admire the classics Vacheron, Piaget, AP, Patek but they do not appeal to me personally. Lastly Rolex is just a status watch - although the Daytona epitomises the "sport chronograph" style and I am thinking about getting one in the future. For show off.. |

Here's my Carrera. One of my favorites in my collection.

Guys, I just inherited these two and trying to figure out what to do with them. I don’t think my parents wore them much since they look new. I can’t figure out what they might have cost when new. Thoughts?

Since no one else has posted a picture of the slightly more obscure and rare Camaro Heuer, here's a picture of mine (sorry of the non-BMW related picture). It was named after the GM produced car in hopes to attract American buyers. It was only produced from 1968 to 1972 and has the same Valjoux 72 movement as the Rolex Daytona "Paul Newman" Ref 6241. In fact, this movement was used in Daytona's for many years. I like it because it's more understated and a nice period blend of the Carrera and Monaco styling. I tend to wear it when I'm driving a sports car from the 60's or 70's, What you can't see in the picture is the Heuer perforated rally strap and buckle that completes the look. It's a nice departure from the larger and heavier Rolex watches. The watch was purchased new by my father in Europe sometime in the late 60's. It's still in excellent running condition.

Forget about the cost, the Formula 1 is a fun sport watch and you should wear both of them.

Looks like he was banned?
I would also agree here. I will say, though, if in the Los Angeles area, I have a great spot that is a Tag AD and they do service as well, without having to send directly to Tag. I am having them service a couple of my Omegas. With Rolex, I pretty much only send to RSC or an Authorized Dealer.

Tag Heuer was the brand that got me into the luxury sports watch market (or what I thought was luxury sports at the time). I’ve owned quite a number of them but have either given away a good amount of my collection away to relatives or sold them altogether. I still have have several saved, such as a few Carrera’s and Link’s. I love them and still keep them in rotation. Will post pics when I wear them, but this was taken the other day:

I’ll have to check (it honestly hasn’t been in the rotation for a while and is tucked away in the safe). It’s a vintage piece that was passed down to me

Thanks! I love the Carreras, they’re very versatile. One of the reasons it’s still in my collection I have a steel bracelet for it that I swap out from time to time, it gives it a sportier look.

I bought my first TAG Heuer today, a gently used Aqua Racer and it should arrive in a few days.

The Aquaracer arrived earlier and I'll need to have a link or two taken out. It's in better condition than described and I'm pleased with the purchase.
