Carbahn Tune and AA Downpipe
Going to have the Carbahn tune (actual unlock and tune and not the piggyback) done at a local dealer who is one of their partners. Also, want to have a high-flow downpipe installed so the tune can be optimized. Based on what I’ve seen here, AA seems to be a good choice. However, I thought I’d confirm with anyone who has experience, is a good choice or are there others I should consider?
Also, I have the MPE exhaust and wouldn’t mind a bit more sound but don’t want it to be obnoxious. Will a high-flow downpipe and this exhaust be extremely loud? |

You are sending your DME to FEMTO ?
AA really is the best overall high flow catted downpipe for us. And most unlikely to throw a code. Your car will be a bit louder. The major issue our cars have with the downpipe and cattback combo is drone. So that might be an issue |

The word "highflow" can be abused/misused. If you want true highflow, look for a downpipe that is 200 cell (I believe the AA that guarantees no CEL is 400 cell).
I dont know of any 200 cell downpipe that wont throw a code. If being custom tuned, the tuner can shut the CEL off. |

I have that exact combo and now that I also did XHP, even sounds more amazing.
Would do it again. With flap closed (OEM control) in comfort, quiet on highway like stock(wife mode). AA DP MPE Exhaust BMS Intake Exhaust Flap 100% Cold Start - Comfort Mode Sport Mode - Windows Down & Up Last edited by Ruebarb; 04-17-2024 at 07:52 AM.. |

I did, had the dealer handle the whole process with unlock, Carbahn tune and install the AA downpipe. Car was with them for just under two weeks and all went well. I haven’t had the car tested on a dyno but can certainly tell a significant difference. I have been happy with the results, I realize there are more aggressive options but Carbahn’s warrant match was important to me given it’s a new car. Bruce was great to deal with at the dealership, actually working with him on a few more upgrades at the moment. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I know this might be a little inappropriate, but total breakdown of the cost would be appreciated! Much thanks. |

I would imagine there are people who don't realize that your actual BMW factory warranty is basically out the window after the Femto unlock. |

What the dealership has to say about the issue etc. Or if you have to take your car to the Carbahn licensed dealer only. And I still wonder if you could ever revert back to the factory BMW coverage if you ever went back to stock and did an ECU update, which of course would re-lock the DCM |

Also the way the carbahn warranty is written is that any non-carbahn parts will then void their warranty and could be used to deny a claim. How they would know this is beyond me but it’s in their terms. Seems like their warranty is underwritten by Cornerstone United Insurance Services. https://carbahn.com/warranty |

Makes me wonder if you could just find any 3rd party warranty yourself and have coverage. Or does Carbahn specifically have a 'contract' with the warranty company to provide 'coverage' to a vehicle that has changes to its DCM/ECU. |
