Just a quick question, is it possible to have the same BMW ID assigned to a key fob and an iPhone at the same time?

yes.. it is possible... you can assign id when only phone is in the car ( no keys near the car/ in car).. phone needs to be in wireless carging tray.. then assign in ID menue the phone to the id

That's kind of a let down. I'm looking at ordering a G87 in manual once my current X1 lease is up, and I've been loving the digital key in the X1. The extra space in my pockets not having to carry around keys anymore has been great.

Digital Key Plus is different, you’re referring to the app. Digital Key Plus creates a key and stores it in your Apple Wallet and replaces the fob. If you have proximity unlocking enabled, you can walk up to the car and it will unlock automatically, same with walking away. Works with the Apple Watch as well, and will also work for a certain amount of time after your phone battery has died. It’s really convenient if you want ditch the fob, or in my case just take my watch with me to the beach and not have to worry about someone stealing the fob since I can’t take it in the water.

I have only used it a couple times but to me it seems more convenient to have the key especially in the case if the phone or card method doesn’t work.

there is no digital key PLUS for the G87 ... only digital Key (you need to holt the phone to the doorhandle, to start phone needs to be in Wireless Charging Tray

Ah dammit. Well they should make it available lol. Can’t see why they would have it on one of their entry level models and not on an M2.

because the M2 is on SP18 platform and the "newer" Models on SP21 -- different Modules and way different locking systems newer SP18 works with a kind of Bluetoothcommunication

Not a dealbreaker for me either way, as I'll be getting the G87 as long as I can comfortably afford it. I got spoiled with the Digital Key Plus and the 360 surround cameras as it's just so convenient, but I'm not getting an M2 for convenience.
