The “rattling” I am referring to below, is more like a pen-clicking sound.
I am also now experiencing driver-side c-pillar rattling at about 4.5-4.6k miles. Sound is more prominent in sport+ chassis, though there is still some rattling in comfort chassis. In either mode, the sound is intermittent as it does not always occur over bumps or uneven roads, but occurs moreso on the highway at higher speeds. This is bizarre as I did not have any recent work done, but I did have my rear driver window replaced (at around less than 1,000 miles), for which I assume they had to take apart that panel and airbag area. Update: I believe the sound has become slightly louder and prominent over bumps and uneven roads at lower speeds. Anybody have a similar situation? |

I have something similar except it sounds like its coming from the front windshield... almost like a tiny rock hitting the glass except there are no vehicles or trees around and too cold for bugs. Very random when it happens but sounds like a tiny rock or pen click lol. No clue what it is any when I went in to change my tires out at the dealer, it wouldn't happen while trying to show them.

Also hearing this faint "click" sound almost sounds like some rubber ish material rubbing against a plastic panel or something. Sounds like it comes from behind but check my rear seats and trunk, still couldn't locate the source of the noise.

I have this pen click noise. Some days it's louder than others, but it's coming from my passenger c pillar. I'm going in for my break in service and hopefully they can resolve it for me.

Prior to the fix, the sound was so aggravating that I contemplated selling the car. The original post with the solve is here: https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...php?p=29947936

Take it to the dealer. I had two separate noises and took it to the dealer. Center speaker and a rattling near the cup holders. They asked how long it had been happening, what speeds it happened at, and probably other questions that I cant remember right now. Told them that the speaker happens no matter what I'm playing, and with the bass/ trebble set to 0. The cup holder rattling happened at any speed, when going over any slight bump.
They put felt tape under the center speaker cover and identified that the iDrive controller was rattling, and replaced it, all under warranty. Hopefully they can easily fix yours too. |
