As much as I like the way 20% looks from the outside, and the amount of privacy it provides - I found myself rolling down the window at night in very dark locations to get a better view .
So honestly , I'll have to do the smart thing and go with at least 28% |

I decided on CTX Llumar (ceramic) 30% for rear glass, quarter panel glass and sunroof; 50% for door glass. Have appt set for next week. Will post pics when done. Getting it all done for around US$300. I may wind up pulling it off the doors but at 50%, it should be fine.

With my G87 I am considering 35 because I won't have a sunroof. |

I had my car windows done with the CTX Llumar ceramic. Had 30% put on the rear glass, sunroof and quarter panel windows and 50% on the door windows. 32% is the legal limit here in GA for cars but it is +/- 3% so I should be OK with the LEOs. I see a LOT darker on the road and I see quite a few with dark tint on the windshield.
Really pleased with the result and the guys that did the install. The door window tint is just about right for me - not too dark at night but enough for some privacy. I am surprised how well it improved the contrast when looking at my side mirrors - I guess it reduces glare. Tint shop happened to have a sale going on so I got it done for a bit less than $300 which is extremely reasonable - I had quotes of over $500 for the same film. Too wet to take any pics today but will try to post some soon. |

I had 35% on my GTI prior to my G42, and wanted to go darker so did 20% on all but the windshield. No regrets so far. 50% is the legal limit here and they’ve never asked about the tint in the 3 times I’ve been pulled over since getting the car in June… same with the lack of front plate, so fingers crossed it stays that way lol.

Here are pics of mine: 50% on the door windows and 30% everywhere else, including the sunroof. Llumar CTX ceramic tint.
Works great for me - the 50% is no issue at night. I could have gone a little darker but 35% was the next step and that was borderline for me. |

50% all around except windshield. Anything on the front is illegal in NJ, so this lets me fly under the radar while eliminating the fishbowl look.

Ended up going with 30% Ceramic all around , and 50% windshield.
Perfect for what I wanted. Still able to see great at nighttime , and have a bit of privacy. |

They used a 70% tint (couldn't get anything lighter) and it was branded "Evolve" |

I agree. Just got the car but the previous owner had 18% ceramic all around. Probably expensive stuff that's a year old.
I have an appointment Monday to have it all stipped off and replaced with 30% I could have just stipped the front doors to stay legal, but want to keep everything uniform. FL law is 28% front doors, 15% rear. |

Do you all take the existing 70% tint that comes on the car into account when calculating the VLT? I haven't had to tint a car in 17 years so I'm pretty out of the game.

The sunroof already seems to be tinted. Does anyone know if it's actual heat blocking tint or just privacy glass? Wondering if it's worth tinting from a heat rejection perspective.
I'm going with Llumar Stratos on the rest of the car (70% windshield, 40% back and sides). |

That's what I'm thinking. I have to keep the shade closed on my 4Runner because the sunroof is so hot. The last few days I've been testing out riding with the shade open on the M240i and it seems comfortable.
