Tire brand recommendations

Hey guys, it’s almost time for me to get new tires so I’m wondering if you could share your feedback about brands/tires you like. I currently have Michelin PS/AS4. Only looking at all seasons because I’m from the Midwest and the weather is crazy here(-20 with wind chill up to 90) thinking about trying Pirelis Pzero AS+3 or Continental DWS06+

Thanks

2 sets of wheels and tyres for each season.
All seasons will be a compromise.

Get a set

I'm in the midwest as well.

Get a dedicated winter set, it gets hot and dry enough here to not have good summer tires and enjoy the car at its fullest.

For winter I have a set of blizzaks but I found this too aggressive for the mild winters I receive where I live.

If I would do it again I would go with Pirellis sottozero or Michelin Pilot Alpine 4

I've used both of those on my Porsche. Both are excellent, you can't lose with either. I have done the whole wheel swap thing for years. I went to A/S wheels/tires during the winter for cold/snow and more importantly because of potholes. It's definitely a pain, especially if you have multiple cars. I've not decided what I will do with the M2.

I'm in Colorado and will also say to get a dedicated winter tire setup. I'm a fan of the Vredestein Wintrac Pro. I had them on my 86 and they are what I bought for my 230.

For now, I've even stopped running summer tires and use all-seasons as my regular setup, as the shoulder seasons in Colorado are just too unpredictable to get stuck out there on summer tires.

If you really want a single year round tire, there are two routes:
  • The traditional UHP A/S tire - Personally I would go with either the DWS06+ or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4.
  • All-Weather severe snow rated tires - we've used the Michelin Crossclimate 2 on our Honda Pilot (I see alot of these in Colordao). I'd also consider the Vredestein Quadtrac Pro+ or the Nokia WR G4

I bought a set of Michelin AS4’s but i was getting an uncomfortable ride from them. I replaced those with Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS and have been happy with them.

My brother had a similar experience with the Michelin AS4’s. I had AS3’s in the past that were completely fine, but for some reason the AS4’s did not feel smooth.

Michelins return policy through tirerack was super easy. I did have to eat the second labor charge for mounting/balancing.

You’ve used the all season I mentioned or the winter the OP mentioned?

I prefer the continental all seasons over the michelins. When I was tire shopping they were of only a couple options that fit on my stock staggered wheels. Really glad I got them.

Absolutely love the DWS06+ conti's. I've had them on my M340i, C7 Corvette, and once I run through the PS4's on the M240i they'll be going on here next.

I live in Upstate NY and for the winter months I run Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 PLUS. I used to use dedicated snow tires, but I've learned that all-season tires plus AWD is all I really need. Plus-- I no longer fret about tire wear during transition months (Am I damaging my snows in April? Am I damaging my PS4Ss in November?).

The Continentals have been terrific, and they make me appreciate the summer tires more.
