I ordered a 230i on August 30, was told I had an allocation but haven’t received a production number. Sales associate says there has been a “delay” at the factory. Anyone else hear of this “delay”?

My understanding is, if they have an allocation, they can place the order and give you a production number immediately. Not sure how things could be 'delayed at the factory' if they haven't even placed the order yet. My dealer and I agreed on a build on July 20, knowing they didn't have an allocation yet, they just guaranteed I would get the first one they obtain. On Aug 2 they got an allocation, placed the order, and they were able to give my a production number. On Aug 9 my status changed to scheduled. On Aug 16 status production begins and I also now have a VIN and an expected production date.

Others around here know far more than me but my guess is they don't really have an allocation yet?

no production number means you don't have an allocation.

Do we know a rough estimate on production number to actual start of assembly or is that kinda a depends question?

depends on the production week
