Almost ordered a 25 but bought a 24 today with some pics

Sort of new here . Traded my sons m340i today for a 24 m2 auto. Anything I need to know? I think I heard you can’t code ass off? That’s my only complaint after day 1 lol. When switching modes back to comfort it turns it back on at least in my car lol. Hated. Otherwise very impressed. It’s a 24 with 1000 miles so we bought it. I also got to drive a manual 24 today which was a barrrel of fun!

Please tell me these brakes don’t dust as bad as my m340 and my m40 did? I swapped my m40 to powerstops but I’m not sure I want to mess with these even if they make them.

Anyhow, just wanted to say hello and I’m back .

I sold my m40 only because of the seat issue and I’m back in a scat pack lol… for now.

Almost went the rs3 route as I thought he would be better with 4 doors and awd but drove them both today back to back and there is no real comparison .. it just feels like M vs a front drive a3 tuned up to be fast and it was also more money.

Let me see if I can add a few pics

Also I was worried I wouldn’t like the new I drive screens etc however I must say by the end of the first drive I felt i like it a lot better, even without ability to code. I’m an old school guy and my charger interior is very basic with analog guages lol

Thanks but unless I’m mistaken I thought I noticed if I went into m1 mode then back to comfort it turned ass back on. Im almost positive as I tried it twice unless something wrong with my car . Not a big deal I just hate ass and don’t understand why they force us to turn it off, even if only once every time we get in. Just allow it to remember I want it off lol.

Very nice choice HJ, remember you well from the X3 M40i forum, you sent me the M badges for the front fender of the M40i. I see you stayed with Brooklyn Grey, another good choice for the M2. Thinking about adding an M2 to the garage, keeping the M40i, we get along well. I will probably be asking you a few detailed questions about the M2 in the future! Good Luck with your new M2...HJ, such a beauty, glad to see you back on the BMW forums.

Congrats! There is a way to code ASD off permanently using BimmerUtility or BimmerCode…at least they give us the button now.

if you use the button on the console, AS/S should remain off for any future starts. You can also set it to off for both M1 & M2 buttons. I hit the console button day one when I picked it up 10 months & 11k mi ago, and it's never come back on.

Pads are horrible, and I replaced them in the first 500 mi. I have iSweep 1500 on both my M2 & my wife's X3MC. There's a lot of debate on the pads. I've put 28k combined miles on them & am more than happy with them.

ASS (active start stop) has a button that stays toggled (see photo). It will stay off when you turn the toggle on.

ASD (pumped in sound) needs Bimmercode.

Hey good to see you my friend! Long time! Yes I’ll report back soon, so far this car is amazing! My last and only other m car was my 2008 e90 m3 manual… while I didn’t like it at the time, I wouldn’t mind having it today lol…. They are valuable lol

Thanks . I’m pretty sure I turned it off on the console but when we get back in and re start the car the ass is on again and the button has to be pressed. Yes I got to set to off when pressing m1 but then going back out of m1 to comfort turned ass back on.
I’ll try again today and test it, this feature is the most annoying one ever created lol.. I don’t even call it a feature it’s an annoyance.

I’ll check out the isweep pads, I recall reading about them for my m40 and when I almost bought the x3m but then got powerstops for the m40 which are a tenth of the price and had them for 25,000 miles with no issue. That being said they are probably not the best for a car like this and I don’t think they even make them. It’ll be isweep or a lot of soft brushes and wheel cleaner lol

Thanks however I was hopeful it would stay off and remember for the next start , which so far it does not appear to do in my car. I guess if not it’s just an extra press after hitting start engine lol we could have worse problems lol
Btw I see you have the manual, very nice! I test drove a 24 manual and it was so much fun I couldn’t belive it.. of course for me I daily my cars and hit tons of traffic but if I had this an extra car I would get the manual for sure !

Yeah very interesting. I totally forget about it in the M2 unless my toddler pushes it while “racing” (sitting in the drivers seat in the garage). In my X3 M40i (which sounds like you had/have), I never bothered to code it off because I switch to sport anyways.

For my usage the manual is wildly impractical. I mostly daily my car in San Francisco, so traffic and hills. But I wanted a 2 door, rear wheel drive, manual while they still existed. And I don’t regret it.

No need to ban me for this, I’ll use search it was just a simple question and sometimes there is too much to read so I thought a simple question was permitted. Strike the question lol I’ll find it

No no, I was just kidding around. Active Start Stop has one of those acronyms that begs for juvenile humor. Lots of ASS in this thread. Anyways, now that the joke has fallen on its ASS I'll see myself out.

lol thanks bud.
Yes I know this is a bmw forum and I e had my share but my few scats and my one hellcat were so good. Especially for what I need or like, which is 4 doors , rear drive and v8. The interior is old and ugly and it’s no high tech anything , BUT it has that fun factor which is almost gone in todays world . I will miss them now that they’re gone! I use them for work so I do about 20-30k a year no choice .. so I have to keep purchase price in reason as all these cars go down a lot quickly lol.. another bonus for the scat it’s not terribly expensive so it doesn’t lose as much $$ even if same percentage. That being said I drove my hellcat for 25k and sold it for what I paid! That being said too, after driving this m2 it has become a serious contender for my next car although not sure I can stomach 2 m cars in the house lol cost wise … but if I must give up 2 doors right now it’s looking like a dark horse or m2! The new mustang just sounds so good, way better than my scat actually !

Wish m3’s were less expensive as that fits all the criteria but man… they are up there

You are a real fart smeller!

I got confused with ASS and ASD…you can temporarily turn off the ASD with M sound off and can permanently code ASD off, but it should remember your ASS setting. Set it then save your seat memory to 1 or 2 and see if it then remembers…I have a manual though and it remembers the setting…my wife’s X5 it resets every time you restart the engine…and ASS can’t be coded off in hers.
