Ordered my 2025 M240i - Need opinion on color choices (Portimao Blue vs Vegas Red)
Hey all,
I'm having a tough time deciding between colors Portimao Blue Metallic and Vegas Red for my 2025 M240i. Any thoughts on which I should go with? I have always wanted a red car but haven't been able to see the color in person yet. On the other hand, I also love the hues in the Portimao Blue. Any opinion helps! Thanks! |

I was able to see the Vegas Red 240 in person about a month ago. It looks just like the Mazda red. That Ruby red color. Way different than what the online configuration shows.

If i didnt go BG I likely would have gone white or blue, probably white. Not a big fan of red personally. I had a red integra gsr years ago, only because it was all i fould find on the used market. It grew on me but never loved it.

Yeah, I wasn't a huge fan of how dark red it was. Plus it's hard to match interiors to it other than black. Beige/oyster just doesn't look right, that cognac color is awful all around, and if you get Tacora red, then you've got a red on red car which is a little much. At least with Blue and ThunderNight, they look good with the whites/reds.

I wanted Portimao Blue but ended up in Brooklyn Grey. Vegas Red doesn't do it for me but to each their own.

Get the Vegas Red and post some images because I want to see Vegas on a M240.
I'll be ordering another M240 next summer (love my BSM 2022) and I'm considering either Skyscraper or Vegas. If one of those colors doesn't do it for me, it will be Port blue. Bob |

I would go to a dealership to see the colors in person, personally. Aesthetic appeal is very subjective. I’m coming out of a red Challenger, so I’m definitely going to switch it up when I placed my order, Thundernight Metallic.
Never having owned a red car, I always thought Red muscle cars and sports cars were super sexy. But once I owned one for about 10 years or so, I’m over it. |

A video in which the Portimao Blue is discussed. (Starts at about the 25 second mark but really doesn't get going until nearly the 1m mark.) Based on viewing the two videos I like the Portimao Blue color over the Vegas Red. Not saying the VR is a bad color just that Portimao Blue is just more to my liking. In fact when building my own BMW at the BMW web site I chose Portimao Blue. But I found an M2 available. That it came in Zandvoort Blue was not a problem. The M2 is my 3rd, make that my 4th, blue car. First Lapis Blue, then Galactic Blue. Island Blue. And of course Zandvoort Blue. But I've owned two red cars. 2006 GTO in Torrid Red (with Red Hot Leather interior!). And a Hellcat in Octane Red. |

I believe red is the latest fad in car colors. I see more red cars now than ever before. Personally, not a fan of red. I think the novelty will ware on you. I had a red 340i loaner, and couldn't wait to give it back!!
Blue is timeless and possibly better on the re-sale years down the road. Bottom line, go see them in person, and order what you like! Best of luck. |
