After 6 months of trying to work out what is going on with my front bumper to bonnet panel gap, I finally worked out that it was not installed properly.

These two images show the far left and far right screws in the row of screws that run along the top of the bumper bar. Look at the difference in height of the section below the white tab which is the fixing point of the bumper. It also looks like it’s threaded. Anyone know?

Looking at the front of the car, my left side of the bumper where it meets the bonnet sweeps up too high, causing the body gap to decrease in this section only when looking at the car front on. Now I know why. I’ve studied a lot of photos from the same angle on other cars, and there is a lot of this going on and is particularly noticeable on the lighter cars.

If yours is similar, have a look at this area. I’ll take it in to BMW to get it rectified.

I've added a picture. The car went in today to be rectified, looking at the other G87s at the dealership, they all had the same thing, either left, right or in the middle of the bumper.

Mine looks like that too, even after I removed & re-installed the bumper when swapping out the kidney grilles. Tbh, I rarely ever notice it.

Are there not any adjusters underneath that control where the hood sits? On regular run-of-the-mill cars they're usually just twisty bump stops that raise and lower on either side. Not sure about Bimmers

There is one on each corner, but I don't think it's a hood height issue.

this is not related to the hood, the bumper is warped by at least 3-4mm on one side, as the spacer is too high (see pic)

Car was designed this way. It’s a feature. What do you want for $75k.

Just got it back from the dealer, easy adjustment and it’s now perfect.

In Australia my car was it's the equivalent of US $100,000 (AU$150,000) which is not a cheap car.
BMW assured me that it was not meant to be like that, and they kindly rectified it.

Here are the before and after pics.
The before pics shows the bumper raising above the hood line on the left side, causing the black gap line to disappear in this area. This was obvious even from 20 metres away..

After photos shows continuous black line.

There are threaded spacer below the screws on top of the bumper. It was a really easy fix that I think most G87s could do with. I did think that it was just how they all are, but it's really easy to get the body gap continuous and perfect if you know what you are doing of course.

As a result I am indeed very happy with the outcome.

I imagine this can be adjusted without removing the bumper cover? You're saying they're under these screws? I didn't notice when I removed my bumper cover, but I also wasn't looking.

Ah, yes...the before picture is bad and definitely not the way it is supposed to be. Glad they were able to fix it with a fight or destroying anything.

Not my car here, but typical of what most G87 bonnet panel gaps looks like from factory. I guess what I'm saying is, that this is totally fixable with some adjustment and finess.

Yes under these screws, well at least the far left and right.. and probably some others in-between. My issue was only with one of them (far left) so I didn't look further, I just compared it to the far right. You wouldn't notice the threaded spacer unless it was sitting too high with a gap. (see first images on OP)

It is likely that when the screw is removed from the spacer, that there is a hex in the top of the spacer to allow rotation to adjust the height without having to remove the bumper. Will have to remove a screw on my bumper and take a look at some point.

Seems strange that they didn't catch your bumper misalignment with QA checks at the factory.

The description of the instructions is very informative but a picture (a video in this case) paints a thousand words.
