2024 M2 winter wheels square fit with alpins

Hi everyone,

New M2 owner here. I live in MD so i think these winters might yield quite a bit of snow.

I am going to go square fit.

Would these rims work well front and back ?

(4) APEX SF 19x9 +20 5-120 MATTE BLACK
https://veloxwheel.com/order/confirm...AP193051&qty=4

there is also STERLING SF 19x9 +40 5-120 MATTE BLACK
https://veloxwheel.com/order/confirm...ST190088&qty=4
Which has a different offset. Would this fit better? ( squared fit as well so 4 of these)

I was going to put Tire Size: 275/35R19/XL alpins on these rims

Ive read tons of postings about aftermarket wheels not fitting due to brakes or not looking right and needing spacers etc.

They will fit an F87 M2, but are the wrong bolt pattern for a G87 M2.

Thank you so much! I realize now my bolt pattern needs to be 5 x 112 and these are 5x120.
Can I ask the optimal offset for this car to have a square fitment?

Apex had a thread on fitments here earlier this year which I can't find right now, but you can contact them directly for advice. You could go 9" or 9.5" width. +5 offset with the 9.5s would give you flush fit.

I guess looks is secondary for Winters, but the offset and narrowness is not good. Probably work fine, and some spacers would help, though functionally, keeping them inset keeps some crap off the sides of the car.

any chance you know of a specific wheel manufacturer that is proven to work with 2024 M2 without the use of spacers while having a square setup? I saw a youtube of a guy that had these nice tires put on ( mobile installer) brand new rims that actually ended up rubbing the big brake calipers in the front. Hoping to avoid that lol

I have a set of summer rims so I am using my stock front rims and picked up someone else's stock front rims in the classifieds to run a square 19x9.5 setup on Nokian R5 275/35 19s.

These we know will clear the brake calipers and the front will be tucked enough under the front to not throw too much stuff. I know the rears will fit as well but might need to add a small spacer if they look too "tucked" to me.

This is just another way to look at things - use the cast heavier stockers in the winter and rather than buy new winter rims, put that money toward a set of summer wheels. You could stretch the 275s onto the wider rears, but then would have to rotate tires relative to rims to max treadlife.

Any setup for g80/g82 should work.

I just bought these. Granted I haven't tried to fit them up yet. I'm waiting for the weather to get cooler first.

I haven't fitted them up yet because it hasn't gotten cold enough where I live, but soon. I'll take photos when I get them on.

The set I linked is the same specs as their winter set for g87 if you look around on their website. There are multiple wheel and tire options to choose from and the specs are all on there so you can use that to find a local set.

I'm sure any of them will work, but if you're concerned about the offset looks-wise you'll have to do some math and/or fit by trial and error.

Gts g510 fit perfectly fine. I have the set with 245s on mine with HAS. I'm actually selling my set, nearly new.

Not sure how much snow you get but you do want your wheels to be inside the wheel well with plenty of clearance. This will provide room for snow/ice/slush to move instead of getting jammed between your tires and wheel well.

Do they need spacers ? Are the rears relatively flush ? Is there a way to check the offsets compared to stock ? (some kind of online app would be nice)

That is the OEM front spec so they'll work fine. You might want 12mm spacers in the rear so they aren't too tucked in.

Thinking about going square winter tire route as well but ordering a more aggressive fitment rim. What rear spacer should i go with? 12mm as well? Likely setup below. Or is this too aggressive on the front and going to kick up snow?

OEM fronts are et+20, so that fitment will move the face out 3/8”, which could be fine with Winters. The OEM rears are same offset but 1” wider, so you would need 12mm spacers to even them out.

Got it, thanks. Not trying to go too aggressive with the winter fitment but figured i'd go with an ET10 rim so I don't need to add spacers to the front and just the 12mm on the rear then.

Hello from across the pond.

I’m picking up my first M2 G87 this week, so following this thread (and others) with interest as the UK forum is pretty threadbare. I’ve had RWD before in the shape of an F31 330i but nothing as muscular as the G87, so no real experience of running something like this over the winter months.

Not sure how this compares to particular regions in North America, but here in Lowland Scotland winters tend to be mild & wet - average daytime runs from around 35-40F though we do have occasional cold blasts and in Jan/Feb it can drop to around 25F overnight.

We get a lot of rain here, but very rarely any snow/ice. As this is my daily driver (with access to a FWD 1-series if necessary), I’d be interested to hear folks’ experiences driving on summers as the temperatures drop.

I’ve run my X3 M40i on summer PZeroes for the past 5 years without any real drama, but that’s a different beast in terms of power, and of course is XDrive

If I need to get winters so be it, and would rather do that than put it in a ditch for the sake of a few $$$

Although it is generally stated by tyre manufacturers to not use the standard summer tyres below 7C, here in Calgary I still drive the car on dry roads down to about -5C on the Michelin PS4S tyres. There is definitely less traction, with braking distances about 30% longer, but not really any worse than the average car in that case.

Careful use of the throttle is advisable, but my 260bhp Caterham requires more care than the M2, I still drive it down to similar temperatures on summer tyres, too.
