BMW & BMW Roadside and Tow Company
On August 5th our leased vehicle with (8,000 miles) & under (12) months on the lease. While driving we get an "error drivetrain" message and the car shuts down in the middle of the road. (Bainbridge Island, WA) We called BMW Roadside, who calls a tow company and an Uber for our pickup. The auto is picked up 2 1/2 hours later and taken to BMW Northwest in Tacoma. The tow company used the "wrong" towing system and damaged the BMW X1 with $8000+ in damages according the service department. We notified BMW Roadside and they filed a claim with the tow companies insurance. We are now without our car for (30)+ days and have over $2,200 car rental fees. We have notified numerous parties at BMW with no results. I thought this issue was going to be resolved in a week and someone would be reaching out to me to make sure my "rental car" allowance was taken care of. This is our 4th car lease with BMW and our last. They have really lost a good customer at this point. Does anyone out there have any recommendations. Very disappointed!

I guess I am surprised that BMW Northwest didn’t give you a service loaner until your car was repaired.

I would call BMW Customer Relations 800 831-1117.

Did you not request a flatbed and confirm once it arrived?

In response to the above questions. Roadside Assistance ordered the tow company for me. They have all of the vehicle information on their screen. They should be the first to know what type of towing is required for each particular vehicle. Second, the tow company has a certain amount of experience about which vehicles they can tow or not. In this case, I was "out of the loop" and had no direct contact with the tow company. This is a leased vehicle and under warranty of BMW and "its" contractors and vendors they chose to use.
