Review: G87 LCI Flash +CS/CSL Transmission Flash by kubax86

First thanks to e90ftw for posting about this and making the community aware of it.

24 G87 is totally stock and currently have no plans to do a full DME unlock. I figured this was a nice option to keep the cars software updated and not a terrible amount of risk. I checked out the options and gave kubax86(bimmer remote coding) a try.
Like e90ftw said the power from 2000 rpms has improved. There was kind of a dead spot/lag until it got higher in the rpms before. New flash is super smooth like a stock map should be. The transmission seems to shift smoother in normal mode and faster and smoother in M1 sport settings.
You don't need anything fancy to get the flash. Your DME doesn't need to be unlocked. Just a laptop, good network connection and the obd to rj45 cable. Kubax86 works fast and communicated with me while he was working. Car was done faster then I expected. I am personally happy with the results.

My car is a manual and I am going this route as well.

kubax86 will you be able to perform the CS/CSL steering and ZF8 flash on the 2025 M2 LCIs? Interested in those 2 straight away as soon as I pick up the car.

I have already CS/CSL flash on trans etc. Will this be overwritten with the 2025 file?

Had kubax86 upload the 2025 LCI DME file. I'm pleased to say the experience was super easy. With limited drive time, I'd say there is a difference in the low rpm range as others have mentioned previously. Car feels smoother without a ”soft" spot that seemed present before. I have the 8AT. Now it's not a night and day power difference, but I knew that going in.

I just had the LCI & CSL Steering, trans, dsc flash done to my 23 m2.

The STEERING is definitely noticeable and MUCH better. The car goes where I want it without all the previous micro corrections. It feels heavier on center, weights up quicker, and generally a huge improvement. Before I didn't like taking my eyes off the road at all because the car would drift in the lane.

Transmission seems to simply be better and operate more smoothly. Quicker and less disturbing shifts. Downshifts seems better. No complaints and nothing weird at all.

The DSC is interesting. Between the steering and smoother power (More on that later), the car is easier to rotate and place in a turn. It will slip a little more around the turn in a good way.

The LCI/DME tune is good and helps the car a lot. Smoother power, no dead spot like before, and overall very noticeable.

I did not have the CSL Suspension flash nor the Diff. I think this is the sweet spot on a stock setup. Overall the car feels like it has jumped up a class or at least gotten the last bits of refinement. Can't say enough about the steering, the car is much better to drive.

Overall the process was super easy, professional, and I am a happy customer.

I ordered a manual so only the steering would need to be updated. I'm interested in seeing how this will be when I get my car.

I am interested in this but have a few questions:
  1. Will the dealer be able to see this change was made?
  2. What happens if/when the flash gets reset by the dealer?
  3. Is there a way we can verify the flash is still in place after a dealer service?
  4. Will OTA software updates reset this?

Yes, as you probably know by now Automatic cars get more torque from factory on the new LCI cars. The question is if the engine tune from the Automatics be flashed on to the manual cars as well so that we could also benefit from the extra torque, it doesn’t seem to be an issue on aftermarket tunes.

Sure but that's aftermarket. They can flash whatever you want.
I really doubt they would make the package work for manual transmissions as the 2025 manual doesn't get more torque. It's most likely flashing both the ecu and TCU or the ECU itself has flags for auto vs manual and will fail.

This is just my guess but I'm sure the people flashing will probably tell you the same

It's not flashing the ECU and tcu they are completely different firmwares and independent of each other. It's a valid question . If the OEM auto tune could be added to the manual then that's a hp and torque increase ...
