Both cars are 6spd mt. The F87 is undeniably a gorgeous car. The G87 isn't a slouch either. The G87 is faster and by all accounts more precise and has newer technology and 0 miles on the clock so I will know exactly how it was treated from day one. The F87 has never been reviewed poorly and is in the stable of many a discerning collector who appreciate it as being the epitome of an M car.

I feel like I need to put aero and wheels on the G87. I don't think I need to do anything to the F87. Both cars have great aftermarket support if I change my mind on that. I can disable downshift rev matching in the G87 and heel toe through the canyon. I can't in the F87, but that's ok because the F87 wants to play and it'll kick out anywhere.

I have one week.
I’ve driven both now. And I would say g87 allllllllllll day. I’m in love. I passed on buying the first gen g87 then the second. The interior space is leagues better. The car feels amazing so far. You are going to love it.

They have it on all manual transmissions.

Automatics don't get it.

That one is manual transmission, there has always been a flimsy plastic guard in front of the radiator on the m/t cars.

The automatics have an additional transmission cooler in front of the radiator with no guard.

The blue car in the photo is auto, that’s why the two here look different.

Thanks to all who responded with their thoughts! I took my friends GR out to the mountains today to drive around and think about things, then went and test drove an F87 Comp. The thing is beautiful and no maybe the interior is not as nice, but it's really not bad either. I do like simple gauges. There are two G87's in town, so I'm going to go look at one of those tomorrow and then sleep on it for a few days.

Now, but tell your dealer you don’t want it till march amd they will / can specify a build date to the factory in the order.

G87 all day, everyday.
The G87 to the F87, is what the G80 is to the F80.
Leaps and bounds a better car across ALL categories

First post here.

I ordered our 2025 M2 about 4 weeks ago and it's currently showing at step 9 (Final Assembly). Starting to get really excited.

I've had 2 BMWs in the past (99' M Couple and 14' i3). In college my dream car was an E36 M3, and I feel like this is the closest BMW today to the original E36.

I've had a variety of sports cars over the years, but have been EV only for the past few years. My oldest son turns 16 in February, and told me he loves BMWs and wants to learn how to drive a manual. So this was the perfect excuse to justify ordering the M2 with my wife.

It will be a garage queen, but will be driven hard on the weekends, track days, and we will slowly modify it tastefully.

Here is the build spec:

6-speed
Frozen Portimao Blue
Black wheels
Carbon roof, trim, and bucket seats
Alcantara steering wheel
Light package, shadowline lights, wireless charging
HUD
M Compound Brakes

I hoping to add the MPHAS, but it might be too late to add as a port option. Worst case I'll have the dealer install it.

I envy you guys who ordered a month ago and are about to get deliveries already. I got my allocation on 7/20 and just hit quality control. Congrats on the purchase!
