considering a trade

So I lost an E89 35i to the roof motor catching fire.
Considered a few cars but I took delivery of G42 May 2022, put just under 40k km on it and I love it, it ticks all the boxes but after the first year I often found myself considering the older/cheaper E85 Z4 or even a Z3 as a second cheap manual weekend cruiser, even though the wife would kill me and I don't have the space for it. I clearly have an itch for the third pedal given this is my first AT car.

I found an E89 with 90k km for a great price, just like the one I had except with a red interior which is the only other color i'd take. Going to drive it tomorrow and see if the drop in power and older tech is going to overshadow the manual or if it puts a massive smile on my face. I loved the Z4, the car I owned the longest and maybe it's the fact that it wasn't my choice to get rid of it when I wasn't ready to but I think the test drive will tell all. Honestly, I don't even know which way I'd prefer this goes but we'll see.

Did you get to drive the E89? Definitely a cool car and I think the manual is the perfect fit for it.

My G42 230i is my first auto, so I understand where you're coming from. The ZF8 is great, and if you have to have a true auto (not dual clutch auto), it is definitely the way to go.

Having a manual to accompany your auto m240, would be a great option, but can understand your position. However, I'd say if you could find the space, I'd bring the E89 home like a puppy and see what your wife says
