Tire Rack M2 testing Ultra High and Extreme Summer tires

I am surprised no one posted these but they test varius tires in an M2 and give great feedback.
I see they like the Yokos but I don't think they are the same as what is coming on the M2 now.

Where this test failed, is they should have tested it against the OEM BMW star tires.

I mean sure but the test isn't for the M2. It's for the tires. Why use a tire rated for one vehicle when they're testing the tire use for lots of models?
It would have been nice though and maybe they could do an M2 specfic test.

The problem is there are four different OEM tires they would need to add. Just not going to happen.

I realize this, but for the M2 content why would we even bother if those tires don't handle as well as the OEM * rated tires regardless of manufacturer? Not to mention they decreased the rear sizes to a 275 tire. If they were going to run a square setup run a 285 on all 4 corners.

I explained it in my post above. Maybe if they were testing the M2 sure

See post above. Tire Rack was testing the tire, not the tires specifically for the M2.

I am in the camp that spec tires are not superior to non-spec (yes, I know the videos and not going to get into a pissing match).

That is the reason I wish they tested at least one of the manufacturers OEM tires against the tires they chose. I would like to switch out to a 285/35/19 and a 295/30R20 tire when I get new wheels. I am getting hung up on getting a BMW * rated tire. I do realize it was to make a fair comparison for the tires they chose. I would really like to see if there is that much of a difference between the BMW * rated tires and a regular off the shelf tire.

For sure it would be nice for us but are those sizes available * rated?
And honestly I don't get the big deal. I really don't think that a * rated tire is going to beat whatever the top tire is. Like say the standard 4S are rated 9/10 and the Yoko are 8/10 and Pirelli 7/10
I do think the * Yoko will jump to 9/10 now.
I feel like they will be just as good as whatever the tire is rated as just maybe have a different size than they'd normally have. If anything the change would be marginal. Remember, they're not out here trying to spend money.

It would be cool if they did test the star spec with the off the shelf PS4S because the star spec tire is so much better than the ones from Discount Tire. I get that it is car specific and not the point of this test but it would really help the people who own that specific car.
