It is a very high bar.
It's quite the opposite. Breaking Bad started out safe, humorous, innocuous even. A high school chemistry teacher who was diagnosed with a terminal illness, begins to cook small batches of crystal meth to provide for his family. It was a short sighted small time hustle and a means to an end. That was it. The show devolved into something far more sinister, dark, and the bodies started to pile up as the show went on. In contrast, Ozark started out dark and twisted from Pilot and they carried it through to the series finale.

Our difference of opinion may be one of semantics. Walt's cancer diagnosis and financial desperation is what I consider "dark". His son's disability too. Depressing stuff. Every scene shot in that house was gloomy. Even the landscape was gloomy.

Dark, in this context, usually denotes gloomy, morbid and social or personal despair. Often imbued with comedic elements. The rest I agree with.

I dunno if I'd characterize it as "hilarious". I felt a dreadful tension and wonder if they'd make it out alive.

Are we talking about the same scene? When he is talking to the Big girl who's sitting down?
If so, What made it LOL for me was the sarcasm and tone she used to Javier, and his gaze at her afterwards. Obviously she NOT knowing who she was truly dealing with.
I'm pretty sure he left and never returned, so she made it out OK.

Ok, I guess my joke failed.

Ya, we're talking about the same scene. I don't think she was sarcastic but straightforward and she was getting worried near the end but Chigurh (sp?) heard the toilet=someone else was in there, so he didn't wanna to deal w too many variables and let her off the hook.

Seconded, best show in a while.

Dark Matter was also good.

Rings of Power is horrid. Just finished and S2 is better but it's still trash.

I think the first season of Slow Horses had a slow start but the others picked up the pace considerably.

Just finished Bad Monkey. Noticed that the final episode was the only one where Tom Petty, performed his own song - Learning To fly.

I enjoyed the show. Fun. Vaguely reminiscent of the Fletch books, if not the movies.

Moral of the story? Sometimes you need more than a good view.

Anyone like Disclaimer starring Cate Blanchett? The pilot episode couldn't capture my interest.

In contrast, I really liked Sweetpea.

I'm likely late to the party on this one but I finally started The Old Man. I'm really liking it so far. Jeff Bridges is fantastic in this series. John Lithgow is great as well. I'm also in love with Dave and Carol.

My wife got me to watch the first episode of Murder in a Small Town. Atrocious. Told her she’s on her own if she wants to watch any more of it.

IDK man I think Breaking Bad was dark from the start. Dude kills a man in the pilot for crying out loud

Speaking of Breaking Bad, I'm rewatching Better Call Saul again... really an astounding show honestly, bet TV writing in my book.
