BMS charge pipe w/ BOV
Anyone know where I can get my hands on one. Been emailing BMS for the past two months, they’ve been giving me ETA’s but when that ETA comes they push it back another 2 weeks to a month

as far as i know, no dealer has this product in stock, so your only option is to wait for it to be back in stock with BMS

I thought our cars already have a waste gate, does a blow off valve even do that much at this point?

So all turbos have a wastegate, a car can have a blow off valve (atmospheric) or a diverter valve (recirculates) our cars have a diverter valve so the blow off is diverted back into the intake track where as a blow off valve let's it off out into the air making more noise.

Yeah I'm familiar with the basic turbo recirculation scheme, and the 'ole pssshhh can definitely be more spirited for sure. I was more asking if it really did anything for turbo lag as it was my understanding we already have wastegate recirculation.
I ask b/c I vaguely recall some SAE literature about having both a blow off and wastegate at the same time and that apparently when it hits a predetermined boost limit the waste gate can bypass the turbo and put excess boost directly into the exhaust to avoid over boosting and turbo damage. Specifically, I recall that there was some tuning, that needs to happen, of the ratios between the exhaust bypass and the atmospheric blow off valve that might require some more specialized knowledge to do correctly or you you risk losing power. Personally I think dialing in the torque reduction settings with ignition cut on xHP for upshift braps are more entertaining sound wise. Same with utilizing an overrun tune to combat lift-off throttle induced turbo lag, but well we all know that requires an all expense paid vacation for the ECU/DME to finland. |
