Just picked her up today! First sports car, first BMW, and first manual! My drive to the dealer was an hour away, so I brought my good friend who drives a manual to drive it home, but I drove it the last 4 miles 😂. Definitely stalled her out about 4 times now, but I should have it down pat by months end (hopefully). It’s nice that it auto restarts when you stall! Kind wishing I got an automatic at the moment, but I know I’ll feel differently about it soon.

Anyway here’s some pics! It’s everything I thought it would be. Very happy with the purchase, and especially the color. Skyscraper on this car looks absolutely insane.

This is the easiest manual car I’ve ever driven. You’ll get it down soon. Go to a parking lot and just learn slowly pulling back and pushing down on the clutch pedal to learn the engagement point and feel. Then when confident with that pull your foot all the way back slowly and fully engage first and then build up speed to get to second. Once you get the neutral to 1st and 1st to 2nd down you are golden.

You barely need to give these cars gas to engage first. Just slowly letting off the clutch should do it especially with even a half mile per hour of momentum.

Idk if this is common, but the hardest part is taking off from a dead stop lol. It’s not easy at all getting like a very smooth take off. Shifting once the car is going is pretty easy tbh. I get a smooth takeoff every now and then, but most of the times it’s jerky as hell taking off lol. But like you said: It’s just getting a good feel with the bite point of the clutch and timing the gas pedal. I feel like I dump the clutch too fast tbh—I think that’s my problem.

Yup, just be slow and when you feel it start to grab slow down even more with pulling back your foot. Lots of people feel it grabbing and then take foot completely off. Honestly just pull back slow until you start going 1-2-3mph and then push back in and coast with foot down on clutch. Keep doing that and you’ll get real confident with the bite point. It sounds tedious but spending some time doing that will pay off. Just find a big parking lot.
Car looks amazing!

Looks very reflective as opposed to Brooklyn Grey. Skyscraper is my preferred color, too. Congrats !
