Updating the cooktop and dishwasher. I had to make the opening for the cooktop larger to accept the new one.

Great for loading/unloading, but not the best idea to put a storage drawer under an appliance that might leak.....

I have water detectors at my water heaters, sump pump, dishwasher, and ice maker. If it leaks, the hope is that I detect it quickly and get the water turned off before it can do any serious damage. The drawer under the dishwasher is full of dish towels and pot holders, so no concern about contents. It's more about the cabinets and floor, which would be the same concerns if the washer was mounted in a more traditional location on the floor.

I had the steps done today. We went with Masland Morgan Bay in Balcony color. It's 100% Nylon so it should wear much better the polyester Mohawk Smartstrand.

I transplanted this hibiscus a few days ago from a crappy old and ugly terracotta pot that it was flourishing in for the last 2 years to this nice new planter to match the others I purchased for the new patio that contain new flowers and a plumeria that are now flourishing. This one not so much…. Killed it promptly.

Solar guys are about done, finally! Now we just have to move the electric service/meter to bring up to code. The old location was too close to the pool. That will hopefully happen within the next couple weeks, then we can finally be done. Here are the 2 Tesla batteries that they are finishing up right now.

Remodeling 2 small original builder-grade bathrooms. Guest bath is done (pictures before (minus shower curtain) / during / after) and cabana bath started today. Pics of supplies in garage are for both. Love the finished product for the first one but still feel sick over combined cost.

I have very similar "pebbles" in my shelf and floor. We also added a stream of pebbles directly behind the shower and handle.

I am finishing off my upstairs and my second floor is going to be a master Bedroom. Small house 24x38 and cape style but stairs as not in center of the house.
Toying with adding this skylight. Having lived in EU in various countries two of my apartments had these and numerous hotels that I would stay during war on terror had these added to their upper apartments. I'm older and have modernized my house they way I like it, My significant other convinced me to add a tub to second floor bathroom, it was a shower. Does anyone have one here in the US, what value do you think it added to your house. I have a master Carpenter that works with me and barters for his services as needed. |

Wife insisted on those and it took a lot of looking to find something that met her approval. Builder suggested adding in niche in addition to floor so I had to go pick up a little more. I do like them after all that, though.

If I were shopping for homes and saw a skylight my first thought would be about whether or not it leaks (or ever leaked in the past). Here in FL I’d want to make sure it was impact resistant and heat repelling material but don’t think that’s an issue where you live.

Summers here have gotten hotter but I added a mini split with heat and air with two units last year as the Attic was no a true conditioned space, I have had sky lights before that have opened and were fixed and honestly have only had one with a leak and that was in my barn that at the time was just a Barn/Maple Syrup barn. It was leaking due to excessive air dams from temperature fluctuations, The building when I purchased the property did not have insulation so with wood burner go would melt snow and then refreeze after I'd let stove go out
Skylights were buried on this side which was the east side. |
