That factory oil could be a Shell or Fuchs product, no titanium so probably not Castrol. Additive package looks like an SN/SN+ C5 oil. Viscosity is pretty low.

That's the first VOA of the SP formula of Ravenol VST I have seen. I like the VST and that's what I would run personally since it is allowed by TIS under warranty for this engine. I'm sure the RUP is good, but the VST has a newer additive package most likely being an Infineum package similar to that used in M1 0W-40. You can't go wrong either way but VST having LL-01 and BMW not allowing LL-04 in the US makes the decision easy for me.

Yeah after I did some research, that's what I was thinking too. Kind of a bummer - I have quite a bit of this RUP here. I'm tempted to try it in my track car that is not DI.

VST is what I put in it today. Now I just need to find a use for all this RUP!

I don't think 2000 ppm calcium is going to be a problem, with the moly and zddp it's probably close to passing SN+ LSPI test. People were running 3000 ppm calcium Mobil 1 SN formula in S55 for years without LSPI problems. BMW engines generally don't have LSPI issues. If you have it on hand, I'd probably use the RUP after the VST.
