Strange occurance

Hello all, wondering if anyone has experienced the below and knows what it is:

Started up the M2 today, hadn’t driven for a few days, I put the automatic shifter into D and then parking brake off, but the car did not move at all, no roll, nothing, I sat in the car with the transmission in D with no movement for at least 20 seconds, I pressed the pedal ever so slightly and again no moving just slight rev as if in neutral, I lightly pressed it again and i heard this knock sound from the wheels. Got out to check, nothing all ok.

Got back in car, shifted to D again, parking brake off and it moved as normal and now since then it’s been fine as usual.

Anyone know what the hell happened?

This happens to me after I wash the car and leave it sit for a day. I think the brake rotors rust and cause the brake pads to stick.

You beat me to it. I 100% agree with this logic, and have experienced it myself.

It’s rust forming. Just give it some gas and break free!

Same exact thing here, but it isn't always benign...for the next few weeks just keep an eye on your rear rotors for signs of rust striping, this happened to me after a rainstorm and it delaminated my brake pad...at 2700 miles. BMW and dealer denied any warranty replacement as "this is a known issue if you use soap on your car" (BMW has an actual TSB about this which served as my formal denial and denial of goodwill)....you can see the rotor stripe, and the offending delaminated pad. I switched my pads to iSweep 2000s before the rotor was ruined. I think I will hold a grudge against my dealer and BMW forever over this.

But can't say enough about the iSweeps!

How does one avoid this? Also I just noticed your rear pads have the M badge, whereas mine dont ?! Is my car missing them?

After washing drive around with your brakes applied a bit to warm up the rotors and dry them, if on an even surface don't use your parking brake. My brake pad fused to the rotor and the rotor pulled pad material off the pad. Ridiculous. This should not happen, period. Cost cutting.

M-badges were on the '23s then removed. I bought a couple: Black BMW Rear Brake Clips (BMW Part #34-20-6-881-294). Easy install, they clip on. Bend the clip in the rear center out a bit and make sure it catches the hole.
