Snow Chain Recommendations
Hi all!
I'm headed to the alps this winter in my 2023 M240i. I have proper winter tires, but some towns and cities require that you have snow chains on hand and during storms will force you to put them on or face a fine. I'd rather have them and not need them than get stuck with a huge $$ fine! Any recommendations? I currently reside in DE and have access to both US and DE mail systems so vendor location is not an issue. Thanks! |

Kudos to you for taking your car out in potentially challenging weather conditions.
I'm guessing that you'd be one of the first to fit chains to a G42, but I have not dealt with chains since the early 2,000's out in the Sierra Nevada Mts.... If I was going to have chains on hand I'd probably go with a cable chain set-up. Here is a link to what I'm talking about: https://tirechain.com/1042-225-65r17...iced-per-pair/ This site also has other options as well. Hope this helps, Bill |

Fine-link snow chains The vehicle manufacturer recommends using fine-link snow chains. Certain fine-link snow chains have been tested, found safe for use in traffic and rated as suitable by the manufacturer of the vehicle. Information regarding suitable snow chains is available from a Service Partner of the manufacturer or another qualified Service Partner or a specialist workshop. There's more regarding wheel/tire sizes, tire inflation pressures, maximum speed with chains and so on, but I fear the info for the 240i may be different than for the 230ix so I won't post it. But I will refer you to your car's owners manual for what it has to offer regarding use of tire chains. |
