What is the best way to refill the washer fluid? This car is the first I’ve come across where it takes an age to do it and it pours out if your not super patient and stand there for 2-3 minutes carefully adding more water. I assume there is some advantage to a system designed this way but it’s annoying and slow.

so you never drove a F87/22/23/20/21... those were a pita to refill....

Ah so they haven't fixed this. So anoying. At least with the F87 you got to look at the nice carbon strut brace.

Why have the designed it this way? Is it something to do with providing better water pressure to the pump, almost like a U-bend to trap air etc.

There isn’t any space for the washer reservoir near the filler cap in G or F series RWD vehicles, there is a long horizontal pipe of fairly small diameter connecting the two: https://www.leebmann24.com/de/en/com...ntainer-617533

The alternative is to put the filler by the container near the firewall but then the bonnet opening makes it almost impossible to get a normal sized washer fluid container in there and tip it up (we have this problem with our Macan where the filler is up by the firewall).

I hadn't even thought of ever refilling this. Even my last BMW i had for three years never did it once. Either I never used the fluid or it was refilled whe I got my oil changed. Good to know that it's a pain on the G87.

I filled mine recently. Did I have to take a little extra time, yes...is it a big deal, no.
