Can I permanently turn off lane steering assist?

My car keeps trying to keep me in my lane even when I intentionally want to merge or move out of my lane, I find this really dangerous.

Like if a motorbike is driving behind me I move over for them closer to the edge so they can safely pass, sometimes there's random debris on the road that I swerve away from, or rarely if I'm driving alone late at night to go to work and merge (without indicators since I'm alone lol) the car keeps me in my lane.

Yes, I did this soon after getting my G42.

1. Apps menu
2. "Vehicle"
3. "Driving settings"
4. "Driver Assistance"
5. "Safety and warnings"
6. "Lane Departure Warning"
7. "Off"

At least that's how to do it in the US

I know what you're talking about, it's disconcerting, yes, you can turn it off by deactivating "Steering Intervention" in your Safety Settings.

Thanks, I just tried this and I received a message saying it will be turned back on when the car is next started again.

You guys have to do this every time you drive?

No. Always resets when you restart the car.
Best you can do is turn all the settings down. On the lowest level, you should hardly notice it working. If you do, take it to a dealer.

Following a tip, I put it as the first shortcut in the shortcut menu, nudge the rotary controller up, press the controller. Has become a habit and my mrs uses it now too.

I don't mind the vibrations but I maintain the steering intervention is dangerous.

I guess US models only need to turn off once... mine doesn't reset when I restart the car.

Appreciate the American’s experience but the OP is in Australia and the market there reflects the EU standard so he won’t be able to switch it off permanently.

Yeah I did that too, I also like the vibrations, just feels like your hitting a rumble strip
