M2 G87 UK service costs/intervals?
I'm on the cusp of ordering a G87 LCI M2 for delivery next year as an upgrade to my G42 M240iX which will be nearly 3 years old by then.
I only had the G42 serviced once, at just under 2 years old, so I didn't buy the service pack but understand that the G87 needs a breaking in service at 1,200 miles. I've not had a full M car before so wanted to see if anyone knew, or could point me in the right direction, of the rough service costs, particularly those likely to occur within the first 3 years, for the UK. I see from the UK configurator that the G87 service pack is £2K which is double that of the G42.Thanks. |

While I can’t comment on the UK, the break in service is included in your free maintenance in the US.

I think there may also be an additional diff oil service and brake fluid service in the first three years, which are probably no more than £100 each, though I'm guessing on the diff oil one. So all in all, you could be looking at close to £1,800 in service costs over the first three years, depending on mileage. The UK service pack at £2K covers 5 years, and is transferable so worth it even if you're just keeping the car for 4 years... |

Thanks that really does and help although it makes the £2K UK G87 service pack seem expensive unless I'm missing something. But it might explain why the dealer was "selling" it during negotiations!

Actually is what I'm missing the fact that the G87 is annual rather than just under 2 year for alternate minor/major servicing for the G42?

My sales advisor suggested not to go with service pack on my order because I only cover a low number of miles. I think my M440i which is coming up to 3years is on just over 5k.

Fair enough - though I've never quite understood how you can have 'condition based' servicing and do very low miles like you, but the service requirement is still annual...

One thing to remember is that the first minor service (not the 1200 mile run in service) - is due a maximum of 2 years after the build date - not the date of the run in service. In most cases this may only make a 2 or 3 month difference as to when its due - but if your car is a BMW "stock" car (mine was an August 23 build but delivered 1st March 24 so it spend 6 months somewhere between build and delivery with 9 miles on it). After the first minor service - its 2 years until the next service. Downside is that if your on a 4 year PCP or lease deal - the major service "will" be due before the end of your contract.
