This is exactly what happened for chemicals that are only produced in China.
Except the gov of both US and Mexico iprofiting from drug trade. It's also more profitable than anything else so there's no incentive to stop it

A retailer importing those items is going to look to offset its cost, which historically gets levied on the consumer. Mexico's and/or its companies may yield, may find other markets, etc.
I don't think that it will get to that point. I think the primary purpose of his threat to tariff Mexican goods it to financially motivate the Mexican government to cooperate with his border policies and trade fairly. He's shown that he will implement tariffs, so most everyone takes him seriously. If they cooperate, I think the odds of the tariffs actually getting implemented are low. I can see Trump praising the Mexican government for the changes they make.

However, while the tariff may have yielded some benefit to you/your company (and presumably your clients/customers), it may not have changed China's behavior in the way the US intended. There are likely many anecdotal examples of the ostensible success of a tariff (maybe not in open/global markets) within the larger practice of imposing them; however, on the whole, they tend not to be effective as an instrument of national power (diplomatic, informational, military, economic, financial, intelligence, and law enforcement (DIME-FIL) activities).
The Chinese tariffs were not financially beneficial to my company and customers. They did cause price increases at first, but the subsequent move in manufacturing to other countries has virtually erased those cost increases at this point. The cost to manufacture in China was on the rise anyway, so I think that the tariffs just sped up the relocation of manufacturing that was going to happen anyway. I can't say that the tariffs have significantly changed the behavior of the Chinese government, but there is one thing that I know for sure. Significantly less American money is flowing to China.[/QUOTE]

Just my opinion here, but you want to be on the flip side of the interest equation. Save your money so that you can pay cash for a car. While you're doing this, you'll be earning interest instead of paying it.

Let's keep to the facts. Trump nor anyone else have ever said anything about deporting low-skill workers. They have said that those who enter the country illegally or overstay their visas should be deported. This is literally what the law requires of the executive branch. I would also disagree about the deportation of illegal low-skilled workers solving nothing. It does cause the supply of low-skill workers to decrease. This in turn causes wages to rise. My company experienced this firsthand while Trump was President. In addition to the usual annual wage increases, we had to give three midyear wage increases to our factory workers (who come to us as unskilled workers). They started calling them Trump bumps.

I can't speak specifically about low-skilled workers illegally in the US because we don't hire them, but I can speak regarding low to unskilled workers legally in the US who were born outside of the US. They make up about a third of our manufacturing workforce. In general, their skills are not any better than Americans, but I have to say that their work ethic generally is. On average, they are more reliable and bring less drama. Of course, each individual is different, but I'm speaking generally. The group we have the most difficult time with is young men entering the workforce who have recently graduated high school. We'll give anyone a chance, but they're far more likely to have poor performance or quit. The sad part is that they're generally able to fall back financially on their mothers or girlfriends. Those who don't have these women to fall back on, don't exhibit such lazy behaviors.

Second place is a respectable finish unless you run for President.

Recommend getting paint correction done, then ppf and then ceramic coating. Tell dealership to NOT wash/detail or get the buffer anywhere near the car.

BMW, I believe, is the largest EXPORTER of cars in the US.

I don't think this will affect it. This is for companies that intentionally leave the US

That is correct, close to USD$10B of vehicles exported in 2023. They are also a net exporter, with 227k vehicles exported, the rest of Spartanburg ~420k production making up most of the SUVs sold in the US, for more than 50% of the 362k US sales:

https://www.bmwgroup-werke.com/spart...tive-Year.html

If the US imposed general tariffs on imported cars, then other countries would likely impose countervailing tariffs on US exported cars, likely leading to production cuts at Spartanburg.

Yup that’s what we’re doing I’m having side skirts and the EAS lightweight front spoiler installed, I’m guessing I should do those 2 things AFTER PPF, agree?

And if you think BMW is losing money selling cars built in Mexico and has no room to move prices down, then you really don’t know how bad we’ve been getting fleeced in the car market, particularly the past four years.
Definitely not losing money, but there probably isn’t a lot of margin to play with in the 2 series and M2.

For almost every company in the world the lower priced “entry” products have much, much lower margin than the upmarket products. And the M2 is still the entry M.

Assuming the M2 price before sales taxes in Canada is still profitable at 90% of the US price (likely the lowest price in the world at the moment), then there should be at least a 10% leeway in pricing possible.

This is exactly what I did and it worked out perfectly. I even had the dealership leave the white protective film on my M2.

Which will then cause the price of goods & services to increase. Then those banging their drums to deport, deport, deport can cry about how much things cost & that they have no one to mow their lawns.
